Hi. I'm thinking of setting the 5 stone in BGD nightingale setting.

Just want to ask you guys which side melee is best bang for the buck.

I think it has a pop of colour if choose either the blue or pink sapphire for the side melee. But wonder if it's not as worth it as using the original diamond melee. As I don't really know what grade of sapphire they are using and also the price of those sapphires compare to their H&A diamond melee.

I personally would use diamonds for the accent stones. I would not want to bring color into this particular ring. I just don't think it will add anything.

I think colored side stones make the most sense if 1) you're using a stone that has special significance to you, i.e. your birthstone or that of a loved one, or 2) you use a color that shows up a lot in your wardrobe. If you're a pink gal, for example, it might make sense (and look nice) to use pink sapphires. But if you just want to add some color - blue sapphire is such a classical look that you really can't go wrong with it. For "something different," personally I'd go with nicely saturated tsavorites.

oh tsavorites is just lovely the color. But just not for me on this setting.

My birthstone is tanzanite which only score 6.5/10 for hardness. I am not very careful with my ring. I always accidentally bump into things so i want something that i do not need to fear that will be scratch or break that much.

Do you guys know what is the pricing for pink diamond melee of size 0.015 carat usually is? I heard it is expensive but just curious how much.

Thanks :)

If the setting is in platinum like the picture you are showing you will need fancy intense pink to fancy vivid pink melee-otherwise you won't be able to see that they're pink. Last I heard (and it just keeps going up!!) fancy intense pink melee in around 1.3mm was selling around 10,000 to 12,000 per carat. don't know if 1.5s would be more-but may be.

oh okay thanks for the info. For that small size is really not as worth it to invest that amount maybe. I guess i will just stick to the original style
