have you seen these in person?

I prefer the second one, but there's no way I'd pay more than $8,000 after tax for a stock setting when I could have one custom made for 1/2-2/3rd the price. But then, I'm frugal like that.

The good news is, if you decide on the halo, you can have Victor Canera make you a handmade masterpiece setting like that for a couple thousand less, I imagine.

I've always loved the Tacori 2620, though. So it would be my choice as long as the stone isn't too large.

So what size is your diamond? The size of the diamond will determine what I recommend for you.

Wait...did y'all end up buying that 2 ct. stone in the halo setting for that great price????? This:

That setting is GORGEOUS! If you change it for a different halo I think you are crazy!!! (Nothing personal!) But you got the deal of the century on that diamond and setting and I simply cannot imagine changing that setting for either of these!

OKay, please don't be upset with me! I didn't give the back story because I wanted your unbiased opinions! but here is the truth...

My current ring is in the JB Star setting :o , my ring was purchased preowned and this was the setting it came in....BUT I have always loved  the 2620 (I have seen it at GOG)...there is something about how it gives the round diamond that cushiony shape that I love...

I am just so darn indecisive and wanted to see how you all felt about the two rings! Here is an actual photo of the ring on my hand:

Here is a link of someone's 2620 on her hand:

eee I just don't know...do you think I could "trade in" the jb star for the tacori?!

you beat me to it!! lol

I would call Joe Escobar Diamonds for this setting. It's already made, no custom work needed and it's under 5k. And high quality and gorgeous. Ask for Erik and tell him Gypsy said you want Beacon's setting. I've seen a LOT of settings of this design and this is the BEST one I've seen for the best price.

http://www.escobardiamonds.com/ They can work with you long distance.

OMG! GORGEOUS! YAY! Don't change that to the Tacori, PLEASE! You made the right choice the first time!

Haha! I remembered your name but had to go look back to see what your ring was! Truthfully, I love the 2620 on smaller stones like maybe 1.5 cts or less. I think it just wouldn't look all that great with a 2+ ct. stone, plus it might be set way too high. You got a much more expensive setting with the diamond. Seriously, I am not even a halo girl but I think that is one of the classiest halo settings I have seen! I would not change it! Spend the money on another piece of diamond wedding jewelry or something!

okayyyyyyy thank you girls for your opinions! Don't know what the hellllllllll is wrong with me, it's just that everytime I see that 2620 my heart like skips a beat! :D...literally all I do all day is switch back and forth between studying for the CPA and looking at diamonds!!! im obsessed!!

Stop looking. And put your ring away for a week. When you come back to it you'll realize you are in love and never want to change.

Well, just finish that CPA, get married, and for a future anniversary present get your hubby to buy you the 2620 with one of those gorgeous August Vintage cushions for an alternate e-ring and then you'll have the best of both worlds!!!  :appl: (And I'd be jealous because I would love to have that combination of rings!)

the thing that makes me an even more terrible human being is that he hasn't even proposed yet....he did mention when we bought the ring that I could change the setting if I didn't like it though (so that's where this whole thing is coming from)...I know he is waiting until the beginning of the summer to get down on that knee,,,but the anticipation just drives me crazy and since I have *nobody* else to talk to about it since *nobody* is supposed to know I think Im drivin myself craZy! haha but thanks I do need to refocus and get through this CPA exam!!!

you just described my dream ring to a T. hey ya never know- maybe as a "push" present :D

Oh, yes! A magnificent push present! He got the deal of the century on the first ring so you may as well have two for the price of one! I have always said I'd like an alternate e-ring because that is something I'd wear a lot more than a right hand ring.

(OR...I will give you the $18k for your ring and you can go to GOG and get the Tacori with AVC!      )

I remember you! The preowned ring bought with the setting. :wavey: Yes, you were unsure then to, and didn't have it then either.

Honey you need to wait until you have it. You really do.

But you can come here to talk anytime you are feeling crazy! We all do that here from time to time!

Definitely. And check out the Diamond Hangout. A long of more regular posters hang out about their setting angst there.

omg I loveeee the way you think lol ! ahahahaha be careful, I may just hold you to that offer one day!! and my guy better propose soon or I think it just might take a couple of more trips to GOG before I have that new ring on layaway LOL...I have already calculated that if I live to 86, he loses .84 cents per day that I could be wearing that ring on my finger!!! (what can I say, it's the stupid accountant in me ;)) lol

thanks gypsy- I'll have to check it out!..don't worry I am really not this crazy IRL, and I NEVER bring the ring up to him which is why when I post on here I just kinda "let it all out" so to speak?!?

okay back to studying! now if only "Describe the 4C's" would be a question on my exam :appl:

Keep in mind there is no such thing as a "perfect ring." If you were to get the 2620, eventually something else would come along - a different shape diamond, a different setting, and different color or clarity. Expecting one ring to be exactly your taste, which changes over a lifetime, is unrealistic! :wink2: Let your ring be what it is - an extremely beautiful expression of love. It's not as if you hate the setting you have, that would be a different story entirely!

And the 2620 setting would be gorgeous with an AVC or even a sapphire! :Up_to_something:

I love your current split shank setting! It is blingier than the Tacori, and looks perfect on your hand. You made the right choice! :appl:

There is NO comparison... your setting is awesome...

Listen, I am totally with you on the idea that the ring is being wasted sitting in it's box! Guys will come on here and find a ring and buy it and occasionally say they are waiting for some occasion months later to propose and I always think...she would MUCH rather have the ring SOONER than have to wait for whatever that occasion is! I never quite get that!

But you are just like most of the people who hang around here. We really love diamonds and jewelry and there is no one else around to talk to about it! We agonize over settings just like you. We think up new projects to work on. I enjoy helping people buy diamonds because let's face it, who can buy a new diamond every week?! Fun spending other people's money!

Good luck on your CPA exams! And stop in here whenever you need a break!

I like this idea

Definitely don't change your setting, that ring is STUNNING!

Personally I would not trade your current setting for the tacori. Its different than what you have
but still has the same feel. It would have to give me a different feel to make it worth spending
the extra money (for me).

I love the Tacori... But... I love your current setting so much more! It's perfect the way it is!
I bet once you get it on your finger and start wearing it you will love it so much you'll forget about the Tacori. I would say give it a chance and if you really don't fall in love with it after wearing it then there's always the preloved section to list it in!

I was going to vote for your ring but I see you already have it! It's way prettier than the tacori! Keep it as is!

BACK AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER! You have the perfect ring right now... there is too much temptation on PS and the internet... :Up_to_something: :wink2:

I like Gypsy's idea of putting your stone away for a bit then looking at it again -you will fall in love all over again. You chose well the first time (and at a fantastic price for that honkin' diamond ring!!!) but it is always easy to second guess yourself (that's human nature!)

Maybe as an accountant, you put away a 'cup of coffee /day' and after XXX amount of days, you march on over to GOG and get that AVC yourself ;))
