Hey guys,

First post here.

I want to first thank everyone for their wonderful contributions to this site. I've learned a tremendous amount reading everyone's post and it helped me to narrow down my choices to the diamonds I want. After much effort I'm finally down to two choices and I'm having a very difficult time deciding which one. I would very much appreciate your input and personal opinions on the following two diamonds:

My girlfriend is a size 4 and will be setting the stone in a 14k white gold. I'm very interested in the WF ACA diamonds. my budget was originally set to 4,000 but I can go up to 4500 if its worth it.

As a 4th year medical student that will be starting residency in july, I am on a tight budget. I wont be able to upgrade to a better ring until at least 10 years so I want to try to give her the best ring possible. I've been told I should aim to get at least >6mm diamond to avoid looking too small. My question is this. is it worth the extra 400-500 for a 0.837 (vs 0.79)? Which one do you suppose is the better value between the two?

Thank you so much everyone!

if eye clean i'll take the G SI1

I think that if the G SI1 is eye clean, you should take that one. It is a better color and you won't notice the 0.10mm size difference. I've read that 0.20mm is where you can start noticing the size difference.

The color is more important than the negligible size difference and the better color is cheaper to boot!

Thanks guys - should I be concerned that the G/SI1 has a 1.8 HCA score (ex, vg, vg, vg). It's a WF ACA so was a bit surprised. Should I be concerned? Thanks again guys

No concern, you only need a HCA < 2.0. A 1.0 HCA score does not mean that the stone is better than a 1.8.

You don't use the HCA score for AGS 000 diamonds anyway, since they're cut for max light performance. You already know it will be a good stone.
