Hi guys-

After searching and searching, and talking and talking, I think I''ve narrowed it down. I''m still speaking with Bill Pearlman on another, but I don''t have its exact specs as of yet. But between these two, which would you choose? I should say I really love the brilliant, white sparkle. Of course I love the colored sparkle too, but bright and white are my priorities. So here goes:

Carats: 2.43
Depth: 60.5
Table: 57
Crown angle: 34.2
Crown height: 14.5
Pavillion angle: 40.9
Pavillion height: 41.2
AGS000
Polish: Ideal
Symmetry: Ideal
Girdle: Thin to medium
Culet: Very small
Flour: None
Clarity: VS 1
Color: D

Carats: 2.34
Depth: 60.85
Table: 55.97
Crown angle: 34.51
Pavillion angle: 40.80
GIA Excellent
Polish: Very good
Symmetry: Excellent
Culet: None
Flour: Negligible
Clarity: VS 1
Color: F

Any preferences, thoughts, ideas??? I need ''em!!!

mmm, 2?

Julie N-

#2 does do a little better on HCA. Why do you like it better??

Pavillion height: 41.2
Because this...is probably not correct?

I'd just go with Bill's professional opinion.

Kathleen, they both look really good! Is there a big difference in price? I''d think #2 would be less...and I''d probably choose it for that reason.

(You need to add the measurements of the stones to your specs, too.)

Yeah......there is a big price difference. 15K. But if one diamond was way better I think I''d pay it because this is the one I''ll have forever. Oh, the measurements are 8.73-8.74 for the bigger, and 8.62-8.59 for the other.

Julie-do you think it''s an error on the 40.9 for angle, and 41.2 for height? I don''t know enough about this to even recognize that. :)

kathleen,

did Bill give you his opinion on the stones? since he doesn''t have a lot of the images other vendors do you have to trust the numbers and his eyes a bit more. I purchased my stone from him sight unseen and just trusted his judgement which was comfirmed by the AGS report

41.2 for th height is a mistake.

but the angle could be 40.9 or 41.2? 40.9 would be cool.

Julie-

Does 43.2 sound better for height? The cert is so hard to read.

Mrssalvo-

Bill Pearlman has been out of the office this week. I haven''t talked to him about these two stones (they are from 2 different vendors), but he has one, actually 2, that he thinks I may be interested in. I, like you, totally trust him. I just haven''t been able to talk to him.

43.2

Either are cool.

Is Bill having the stones sent to him? If so, I''d just wait until you can talk to him and see what he thinks. That is quite a big difference in price but if you love white, white, go for the bigger D

Oh my...F is PLENTY white! I wouldn''t have to think a minute more about this. I''d take the F in a heart beat. No way #1 would be worth $15,000 more than #2 to me. I''d LOVE to have #2!

kathleen, have you seen ideal cut rounds in person? I agree that most people are not going to be able to see a difference b/t the F and a D so it would be silly to pay 15K more for something you really can''t tell. But, there are a few folks here who love their D stones and will pay the premium for them but seeing them in person to know what your eyes tell you is always the best way to decide where your color scale is.

The question is... what is way better to you? Do you want the head knowledge of having a D? cos your eye probably won''t be able to tell the difference between that and an F. The tiny size difference probably won''t show. If you don''t know what is most imprtant to you, I would just trust an expert''s eyes. As for me, what''s important keeps changing!

Good luck and let us know what you decide!

So, it sounds like you girls think both stones are pretty much equal (except for a small size difference, small color difference, and HUGE price difference)!! But as far as proportions, angles, depths, heights, etc., do you think they are both OK? Is there anything out of line on either of them?

I don''t think there is anything to worry about with either stone.

I agree completely that both will be great. But I guess I have a preference for the "numbers" on the F stone because the angles and table, etc. are almost exactly like my diamond and I know for sure that is a beautiful combination.
