I have been looking for a stone for about a year now. I have been browsing this site and these forums the whole time and they have helped tremendously. I finally decided between these two from GOG and am unsure of which to go with. I would wait longer for something else but I think that the pressure is on. Any thoughts that anyone can offer would be more than appreciated!

OR

I think those links should work.

Also if this helps I have narrowed the setting selection down to these two from Vatche. And any input would be great here as well.

Again everybody here has been more help than they''ll know already so whatever thoughts anyone has would be great!

I prefer the first setting and the first diamond.
The idealscope of the 0.83 I VS2 looks better, so does the Bscope.

slowjamz,

I didn''t even click on the links or learn anything about those diamonds I couldn''t guess from the fact that GOG is selling them and that they have different color''s and clarities.

My pick, G-SI1 hands down. Whatever the minute differences in cut, I''ll trade two color grades for one clarity grade all day long. My bet is so would she

Without looking at the stones first hand, I agree with Jim. Color over clarity anyday. That said, I would call Jon at GOG and have him give you his opinion as he looks at them side by side. He may see something we don''t.

I would normaly agree about the color, but there is a crystal inclusion on the SI1 that appears to be smack in the middle. That is my only hesitation. That and the "faint flouresence" noted on the GIA report.

slowjamz,

I went and looked at the stone. The crystal appears to be white and pretty deep in the diamond. It isn''t visible at all in the photo GOG has at the top of the page. If you can''t see the crystal in a photo that''s ten times the size of the actual diamond, what''s the chance you''ll see the crystal in real life?

Fluorescence is a total non-issue.

I vote for the G SI1. It is ever so slightly bigger, and the I VS2 has an extremely thin girdle (although both girdles go up to extremely thick . . . is this common for this cut?).

Yes, the idealscope for the I had more contrast, but both BrillianceScope''s were off the chart. I think the difference in cut will be minimal, but I''d go for the better color, size, and girdle.

G, SI1 for sure, and for the diamond shape, I''d go with the second as I think it will emphasize the non-roundness of the stone more. For a RB I''d prefer the first, but I really like them both, just slight preferences based on center stone shape. I think G SI1 is the ideal combo (this is what I''ll be looking for) and the b-scope results look exactly the same. You''ll never see that inclusion with your bare eyes...

How did you end up with the square H&As ? Those are pretty deep and small for the weight

If that is fine with you, than G-SI1 gets one more vote here

A setting meant for a princess cut would likely fit the stone better and emphasize the precious square-ness.
Varche makes a square version of your first option - I would suggest it because it is a daintier setting and that should make the diamond stand out. I could not find the picture on dvatche.com, bt WF lists it:

I ended up with this shape because she wanted a princess cut. I wanted "more bang for the buck". Most princess and other squares I had seen lacked the brilliance and sparkle of a round. So it came down to this and the Jubilee. I have seen bith set and to my eye the SCH&A looks more square set. I also think that it looks a little "softer" if that makes any sense. She has seen both styles and likes them both. She did not want round under any circumstances. She also doesn''t want something that every other girl she runs into is going to have. I think this shape will meet that desire.

Sounds right... there can't be too many square H&A out there. This one is close to a square cushion, and those are not common either.

I would be pretty curious to see how the G-SI1 you picted looks like next to THIS (assuming prices are comparable).

If the price sounds good, there's basically nothing left to say - these guys are made to sound perfect by any account

Is it me or that link you posted Val have a small mistake on it?

Works for me. It should lead to a 0.91 G VS cushion cut (not H&A cushion, a regular one).

Look a bit closer:

Carat Weight: .91
Clarity: VS2
Color: G
*Shape: Round brilliant *
Cut External
Polish: GIA ~ Very Good
Symmetry: GIA ~ Good
Cut Internal
Light Return ~ Very Good
