Thanks

I would prefer the 1.69c, personal preference on smaller table. Inclusion wise, at VS2 both should not be a problem, but I also prefer crystal/cloud to feathers.

thanks !

I will just fix your links to make it easier for others to help you,

With the inclusions there shouldn't be much to worry about in VS2, the first diamond has good proportions but it is a tad deep for my taste, the second has a larger table but also has good proportions.

Ditto on that.

thanks to all! more i see, more confusing it is :)
i'll definitely have more follow up questions
realize it may be too general too sum up, but to get the optimal sparkle, what range is recommended for the table/depth?
appreciate everybody's assistance in this process

Personal preferences... :P

Some just prefer 60% table but I don''t really like that look.

For a top cut diamond around 54- 57% for table and 60 - 62.4% which is my limit for depth, some PSers won't go past 62%, however it is the crown and pavilion angles which are crucial for sparkle and beauty.

Here are some numbers you can use as a guide to help you.

depth - 60 - 62% - although my personal preference is to allow up to 62.4%
table - 54- 57%
crown angle - 34- 35 degrees
pavilion angle - 40.6- 41 degrees
girdle - avoid extremes, look for thin to slightly thick, thin to medium etc
polish and symmetry - very good and above

note - with crown and pavilion angles at the shallower ends ( CA 34- PA 40.6) and steeper ( CA 35- PA 41) check to make sure these angles complement in that particular diamond - eyeballs, Idealscope, trusted vendor input - check as appropriate!

As the above implies, configurations depend on each other. A little give here can still work with a little take there.

From expert John Pollard.

With that said, here's a "Cliff's Notes" for staying near Tolkowsky/ideal angles with GIA reports (their numbers are rounded): A crown angle of 34.0, 34.5 or 35.0 is usually safe with a 40.8 pavilion angle. If pavilion angle = 40.6 lean toward a 34.5-35.0 crown. If pavilion angle = 41 lean toward a 34.0-34.5 crown.

GIA "EX" in cut is great at its heart, but it ranges a bit wider than some people prefer, particularly in deep combinations (pavilion > 41 with crown > 35).

thanks lorelei.....
can you PS experts take a look at the following and recommend to me which would be the best buy in relation to price and quality? Please rank them by your preference if you had to purchase. i''m not sure if i should opt for the VS2 or SI1. Can''t really tell if eye clean or not and so if you experts can guide me, I would appreciate it.

Oh you are very kind, we are not experts in this thread, just consumers! My pick would be for the first one provided it is eyeclean and that the cloud inclusion mentioned isn''t impacting brilliance ( just check with BN to see if they can find out for you).
