Hello All,

The previous GIA 2ct, someone took it before me.

The hunt is continuing
and I was eyeing on those below for ER but will pick one first if there is no matching for the time being.

AGS-104106131001

GIA 2215846714

GIA

Greatly appreciated to all in advance !

Looks like a twisted pavilion on the 1.7ct.
May very well affect light return.

Go with the WF ACA.

Between this GIA and above AGS, which one is better ?

Thank You!

ACA with AGS report. I like the proportions and angles better, plus the ACA will be eligible for WF's lifetime upgrade program, whereas their virtual inventory diamonds are exempt from it.

I’m a bit confused. There is night and day difference in the two stones. Weight alone - 1.7 vs 3.24 carats! Both are J-IF’s.

I imagine there is a considerable price variance between the two, right? If not definitely go with the ACA. It’s better cut and has a lifetime trade policy.

However, just being honest, if I were spending my dollars and okay with 3 carats I would personally be looking for a VS2/VS1 and looking to improve color as much as possible while sticking in the same price range. If you prefer warmer stones stick with J color and consider lowering clarity to VS2/VS1 and increase size or save a few bucks.

I personally just don’t think IF’s are worth the premium but sometimes what’s available differs from our preference.

It just seems like you are jumping a lot in size and what I also assume is dollars so I’m a bit perplexed how to best guide you.

I am also confused. One is a WF virtual inventory stone so it doesnt have any of the benefits of one of their in house options. Where is the link to the AGS option? I only see links to the info for the GIA

I could either go with 3ct or 1.7ct. I could do a bracelet, necklace, studs or so. Therefore, whatever size falls to my liking , I would go for it LOL.

See lots of feathers, needles, and clouds in vs, which I was afraid of cracking in case of fall and hit concrete or metal.

Thanks! I'd like to see pics, if possible. I agree with @sledge that J/IF is a weirdo combo and not something most people would choose. I would basically always choose an ACA over a GIA stone

I currently have H and D color stones already in platinum and white gold.

Saw many ladies here having warm colors that was interesting. Therefore, I like to try J with yellow gold to see how it goes

It is not accurate that a VS is more likely to crack than an IF, at least not to my knowledge. Diamonds can crack if they get hit in the "wrong" way. There are some kinds of inclusions that make them less durable, but not in VS clarity (with a few exceptions, such as knots)

Here is the WF page I found earlier and didn’t . I’m assuming OP is the one with the reserve in it.

In regards to structural durability, any stone graded SI1 or better isn’t going to be a real concern. Sure, you may want to avoid certain inclusions and/or locations but you don’t have to jump to IF to find a structurally sound stone.

And yes, as @lovedogs pointed out you could drop or bang against something at just the right angle and pressure and cause a break but that isn’t normal. But to put things in perspective, OSHA says falls > 6’ can be fatal. I’ve fallen from higher and lived. I’ve also fallen shorter distances and hurt more because of the way I landed. I saw a guy at a football game lean over the rail to high five a player as he went into the locker room. He lost his balance and went over the rail. I tried to save him. I managed to get a pant leg but it slipped through my hands. He landed on his head and was severely injured. I’ve jumped down distances that high before but did a landing roll without injury. Like I said, weird stuff happens.
