Hello guys I need to get a diamond soon, it''s taking me forever cause I keep getting differnt info everyday from many people, first I hear the scopes are excellent measures of light return then I hear they are useless, then I hear numbers are critically then I hear the numbers are not so critical just look at the stone.....etc etc, so after 2 months of searching I really dont know what to believe anymore... anyway anyone have any opinions on either of these two asscher shaped diamonds? Which would have more Light return ?

No matter what matters... it does not seem that you could line up enough diamonds to learn by comparison what is great and what not within reasonable time and effort

At least GOG puts together all those numbers, pictures and tests - even if none is the definitive proof of quality, all togeter can't be that far from truth

It's nice to see light return off the chart for a step cut! And not frequent at all...

It does not take much change of proportions to get a very different prediction of light return for these squares. (saw THIS one at Nice Ice?) and the G-VS2 does not leave much to be desired, as far as I see.

How about the other piece... is there comparable info about it?

Thanks for your input, I have no pics on the second stone but according to some things I have looked at it is supposedly ideal cut, this site http://www.gemappraisers.com rates Stone 1 as a 1A cut and rates stone 2 as a 3B. I think stone two is nice but anyone think stone one will beat it in light return? I really want that wow effect if Im going to spend several grand on a diamond.

Thanks so much

The AGA charts do not represent brilliance precisely...

Honestly, there are so few sellers who would select step cut diamonds for brilliance that it is hard to find a good number of stones with comparable descriptions. Most I have at hand would be in GOG or Nice Ice ot Whiteflash stock and the G-VS2 does "outperform" most nicely even if one looks at all step cut stones not just the squares. This must be "wow" if anything is.

There may be one type of stone that does keep some of the step look and does have higher light return - the Lucere (step cut crown - rediant-like pavilion). And then, there are no branded Rpyal Asschers listed with Bscope in toe. have you ever considered these?
