Ok, I've been a lurker on here for a long time and I've learned alot of things. However, I'm no expert so I'd like some info on which one of these 4 is the best value. I'm expecting to make a purchase for an engagement ring in the next week or so. They are all D color, IF, H&A and they are all less than .5 carats. I know the D/IF isn't a very good deal, and that the human eye won't be able to tell it apart from a slightly lower grade. I guess we're just a little wierd. I don't know if I can afford the higher priced stones on the list, but I'd like to see how they compare value wise. I don't know what exactly I'm looking for from you guys, value is a pretty relative thing. I think I'm just looking for opinions make me feel better about a very expensive (for me) purchase. If your time is valuable to you, don't waste it on me, but the people here seem to be so helpful I figured I'd give it a shot.

oops, I guess I listed 4, I''m kind of scatter brained tonight

Hello there,
I just want to share my recent experience with you - we bought a ring just recently from BN and I just received it yesterday - and couldn''t tell you how happy I am with the choice we had made. We bought a .446carat ideal cut, D-colour, VS2 clarity, ideal polish, ideal symmetry and ideal light performance according to the AGSL report accompanies the diamond for $1400 CAN (it would had been around $1100 US). I think it''s the best choice ever and would always recommend everyone I know of to go for the cut, colour then clarity because the cut means everything! I used the holloway cut adviser and entered the number to determine the visual performance of the ring and it''s rated as 1.3. It literally shines and it''s bright - colour D definitely makes a different. however, spending that much extra for an IF, I personally think would not be necessary - not even a pro can see the inclusions of a VS2 with bare eyes =)
Nonetheless, I understand you want it to be flawless for your loved one =) good luck with your decision and wish you two the best!

Hi Luke,

The first three look great, the last - not enough info to judge the cut. As to value that can depend on the services offered by the vendors etc also and what you value more - JA and GOG both have upgrade policies for example but the terms of each differ.

Nothing wrong with wanting D IF, diamond buyers have different priorities!
