There is an hour''s modelling to get any idea using DiamCalc for those stones.
Can you get us images please?
ASET is best, then Ideal-scope, then regular photo''s in the same exact setup

#1 has a thin part to the girdle - I do not like that in an emerald cut if it is in an exposed place in the setting you choose.

skip 1 and get pictures for 2 and 3 or arrange too see them in person.

They all have potential but I can''t say anything else without ASET and magnified pictures.

Need to see pics put # 2 looks interesting. Nice table and depth that are pretty close. Number 3 we have seen before.

Here are the pics of the actual diamonds.

The 1.06CT is on the left and the 1.11CT is on the right

Storm I was wondering why you suggested to skip #1? I will be taking a look at these 2 in person also

Here is the pic of the 1.02CT one, we did see this one before, but here it is again for reference. I know I do not have the ASET or IS images but any comments on the pictures I do have?

Thanks

2 looks like the best of the lot but the picture is very bad.
1 looks about like what I expected, when you get a big jump in angles it was cut for weight usualy.
The pavilion angles girdle to culet are:
56.9
45.5
28.8

Leave the first 2 as steep as possible then go shallow with the third adds weight not a good sign.

Thanks Storm
I know the pictures are not as clear as I would like either. It sounds like you like the 1.11ct (#2) the best of all 3. Should I be concerned about the thick girdle?

What makes you like #2 over #3? Just curious

Thanks for all the advice

thick girgle is the norm and no issue.
2 over 3 is mainly that 2 looks as good as or better and your seeing it in person.

The 1.11ct stone looks very interesting. The picture isn''t all that great though. Can you get the vendor to take a better picture? One that shows the stone directly from the top down looking into the table, rather than at an angle?

A thick girdle is not a big issue, just some weight retention there but at least there is no fear of accidental chipping as easily as stone 1 which has a thin girdle.

the 1.11ct is very beautiful!

1.11 ct looks really nie to me. I say bring that in with the 1.02 and make your decision from there. If you can poset some ASET or IS images. Your vendor should be able to provide those.

Ok so I looked at the 1.06 and 1.11 in person at ERD (Mark). My expectations were that the 1.11 would look better than the 1.06 judging from the numbers and pictures. Honestly after looking at both of them side by side and under a microscope the 1.06 looked better. The 1.11 just did not have the brilliance and fire that the 1.06 had. The 1.11 was definitely a nice stone also but the 1.06 just looked better to me. I don''t think the pictures here did it justice. Anyway I am probably having it shipped to an independent appraiser also.

anyone have thoughts?

no ASET pictures are available

Thanks

This just proves the advice we often give with fancy shapes, your own eyes are the best judge! That was lucky that you were able to see them both in person and find the best diamond for you!

What did Mark recommend? He has a great eye....he basically picked out my EC for me, and he did a FAB job!!!!
Best of luck on picking a winner!!!

Dani,

It was kinda funny. Mark would not tell me his recommendation until I picked out which one I liked better. So he actually wrote down which one he recommended and did not show me. Then after I told him which one I thought looked better, it turns out it was the same one that he wrote down. My friend who was with me also agreed.

It's great that you were able to see it for yourself. That is the best test for buying fancy cut stones. Since you obviously like the 1.06 EC then that should be your choice. It's great that Mark happens to think highly of it as well.
