Hi there,

I was considering Solasfera, 8star and ACA... final take is ACA.. but Whiteflash does not have any stock in the inventory that match my specification now. I search on-line inventory of Goodoldgold, and Craftedbyinfinity . They have fantastic information on the web but they do not have the specification I want.. I cannot see anything that suits me. James allen does not have the stone, their truehearts are all in the range of 1.5X.

I am looking for a D,E,F . VVS or VS round brilliance and i am buying on line. I am from Malaysia and looking for 1.8ish carat. Triple excellent or triple ideal.

Which reliable jeweller can i approach now to buy a superideal diamond, who will provide all the reports to me? Some vendors do not provide reports or provide only limited reports and images.

please advise...

Warmest regards and great cheers!

You can just tell WF about your specification and budget and see what they can come up with. In fact, with any of the trusted vendors on PS, you can do that. Sometimes they have stones in the pipeline, at the grading labs, etc... that meet your specs. Or they can call in stones from virtual inventory and they take the data, images that you want.

So bottom line, call them and ask.

By the way, what is your budget?

Hi there,
My budget would be around US21K to US23K or US24K.

Not sure if i can get a superideal stone E, VS1 with this budget.

Any of these vendors would be happy to find (or cut) a stone for you that meets those specs:

Goodoldgold -- provides all reports
Infinity (High Performance Diamonds)-- provides all reports
Whiteflash-- provides all reports
Brian Gavin Diamonds-- provides alll reports
James Allen (True Hearts)-- has just started offering ASETs as well as Hearts Images, so they provide a lot of information, but you do have to request it.

You can just ask them for an AGS 0 round brilliant (0 on light performance) with your specs.

A colorless VVS or VS superideal will run in the neighborhood of $30-35K US.

EDT: 24K will either get around 1.5-1.6ct with that color and clarity

or for the size, you would have to drop a little in one or both

Hi Jett... I just looked at their inventory listing for the OP and saw a BGD E VS for 23K at 1.7something carats. So that's not entirely true. Of course it was sold, but as long as the OP will consider a E-F VS2. It does seem possible.

Great! One of those times it is fun to be proven wrong.

I missed that BGD had their inventory up somewhere along the line. Just checked out the blog again and found it--don't know how I've missed that before.

I think it''s the same stone actually that caesarsalad wanted and didn''t buy quickly enough. But it does look like BGD is willing to cut them another one that is similar for caesasalad... so my guess is, if they can cut one... they can cut another. LOL.

Hi there,

Is G colour yellowish in naked eyes? or under certain angles?

Is there any difference between a E and F??

What about a VVS2 and VS1? any difference?

and a VS2 versus a VS1 ? any difference?

Okay... here we go!

First, it depends on the stone and the person.

Some people are very color sensitive and others are not. Some have eagle eyes and can spot inclusions that others need to see with a loupe.

That SAID. With clarity.... I have seen SI diamonds that to my eyes I could not tell apart from an IF, without a loupe. Clarity is graded with the diamond face up with a 10x loupe in hand. And most people don't go around louping other peoples diamonds (PSers excluded).

With regard to color. Color is graded face down (pointy side up) against a set of master stones. There are very few people that, even viewing three super ideal round diamonds unset, side by side AND FACE UP could tell you which one is a D, E or F. Flip them over on white paper and put master color grading stones... many people would be able to tell the difference. But you are not going to wear a diamond face down. You are going to wear (and set it) face up. Ideal rounds are designed to blast light, fire and scintilation at you from that view... obscuring body color visibility.

So what about G color. Again, face down. Sure. Face up, unset and side to side with a D or an E... if you are color sensitive you will be able to tell. Most people though, not so much. Again you don't wear diamonds unset, or side by side with other diamonds that will show it to a disadvantage.

Especially with Super Ideal Round Brilliants in Solitaires. No, if the diamond is completely eye clean (from all distances and from face UP) and set in white metal on a person's hand... many people will not be able to tell a G super ideal (SI and eyeclean) from an E VVS.

There are a lot of tutorials on this subject and I really suggest taking maybe a week to really research how cut (as in how well a diamond is cut and how well it performs), clarity and color work. Then going from there.

I'm not going to link you to the tutorials because I know other's probably have them at the tips of their fingers and will pop them in this thread for you, whereas I would have to hunt them down as it has been a while since I've used or read them. I do know that High Performance Diamonds and Goodoldgold have really good tutorials though, so you might want to go on those sites and see what you find. And Pricescope (the site you are on) also has A LOT fo tutorials and articles on these subjects as well. Since you are spending a lot of money.... I would take the time to make sure you are getting all that you can with it.

And... I think you are going to be surprised at what you find. Is there a Hearts on Fire Dealer in Malaysia? If there is... after you read the tutorials and learned what is in them... go visit one and ask to see a couple of G and H SI's, as well as a couple of D and F VVS ones, and see what your eyes tell you.

Good post Gypsy!

Gypsy..

Talking about Hearts on Fire... is it equivalent to superideal cut like those ACA or those in Goodoldgold or those crafted by infinity or those by Brian Gavin?

Please enlighten me... thanks!

Ditto. And I will add, HOF is not as strict with their cut parameters. So some are stunning, so not so much. Some of the diamonds mentioned in here are cut to much stricter parameters, therefore ensuring a pretty diamond, sometimes better than a HOF.

Double ditto.

The reason I mentioned HoF is because you are overseas and it is a worl wide brand. They do have some lovely stones, that are well cut, and if you are going to do in person research on color and clarity... I wanted to make sure you were comparing well cut diamonds to well cut diamonds.

I have seen super ideal I's and J's that have (when set and on someone's finger, neck or ear) been just white... and I have seen F diamonds that I really had to do a double take at because of the poor cut making the diamond look so... wrong.

So the point of the HoF (some call them Wallets on Fire) suggestion was just so you could go and see what you think YOURSELF in person, while making sure you are looking at well cut stones.

There is a concept we talk about here called "mind-clean"... what I want to make sure is that you aren't solely relying on our experiences for such a large important purchases, so that when you order the stone, it is 'mind-clean' for you. So when you place that order it's with joy and peace, not trepidation.

(Thank you Lorelei
