Now I know this is splitting hairs... but in the experts opinions, which of these diamonds might be the better performer?

Diamond 1:

Cut: Round

Weight: 1.247 carats

Table % 56 Grade: 1A

Crown Angle 35 Grade: 1B

Crown Height % 15.4 Grade: 1A

Pavilion Depth % 42.8 Grade: 1A

Girdle Thickness Thin to Medium Grade: 1A

Total Depth % 60.4 Grade: 1A

Polish / Symmetry Excellent Grade: 1A

Final Grade: 1A

HCA Score: 1 (Ex/Ex/Ex/VG)

Diamond 2:

Cut: Round

Weight: 1.216 carats

Table % 54 Grade: 1A

Crown Angle 34.5 Grade: 1A

Crown Height % 15.2 Grade: 1A

Pavilion Depth % 42.6 Grade: 1B

Girdle Thickness Medium to Slightly thick Grade: 1A

Total Depth % 61.4 Grade: 1A

Polish / Symmetry Excellent Grade: 1A

Final Grade: 1A

HCA Score: 0.5 (Ex/Ex/Ex/VG)

With the first one, the crown angle is what gets the lower rating; with the second, it's the pavillion depth (the pav. angle is 40.5).

Would any experts care to weigh in on these? It makes my head spin...

Those angles could be two measurements of the same stone

... as far as I know.

the second is slightly better cut.
35 is a little on the high side even thou it is well balanced by the pavillion angles.
assuming both are h&a and look good in the h&a photos.
I like the 34.5 40.5 combo.

? for ya is the first a whiteflash aca and the second a venus by infinity?
By the measurements it is what they sound like...

I'm not one of the experts, but I agree w/strmrdr. I like the second combo just a tad better. Have you seen them both in person? What do your eyes tell you?

Interesting points, thanks guys

Can anyone elaborate on what the 35 crown angle on the first would mean, and why it's a potential problem? Insight on the pavillion angle on the second would be welcome too.

Strmrdr, you're right that the first is a Whiteflash stone. The second is not a Venus - what is that, anyway? Never heard of it, but I'm intrigued!

Can any of the experts please model these two for me? DiamCalc, or anything else that uses the numbers... it would be so helpful to have a visual idea of the difference!

venus by infinity is a brand cut by Paul's company and sold by Gary @ diamondexpert.com and wink all of whom are pricescope members and help out here.
Not to be confused with the venus brand in the US which isnt a standard RB cut and has extra facets.

The are charactorised by having mid 34 degree crowns and mid 40 pavilians pavilians and being very very well cut with exellent h&a and popin ideal-scope images.
There target is 34.5 and 40.5
The diamonds tend to produce a huge amount of very bright small flashes where the new line whiteflash aca's tend to produce fewer but bigger flashes aka 8* like.

Thanks, Strmrdr, that's really interesting... so assuming that the second is H & A, it should look like a Venus by Infinity diamond because of the cut? What about the pavillion depth, that's not a cause of concern?

Another question: I've seen the second in person, and it's more glittery (tons of little flashes in color) rather than having huge, eye-blinding flashes. Is that how it's supposed to be? It's beautiful, but I just thought, from reading this forum, that the best cuts have big flashes.

There are variations in how ideal cut h&a diamonds look.
It depends on the angles they are cut to and the cut of the smaller facets.
I like both the very firery and the broader flash diamonds but some people like one over the other.
Either way they will be top performers.
Awesome but different :}
