Hello- Could I get some feedback on these 4 diamonds? Thanks for any help.....

#1 is a maybe, would need an Idealscope image, which BN does not provide. It could be very nice, but I prefer to see IS on that combo.

#2 is a pass. 32 degrees is just too shallow for the crown angle

#3 has very good numbers

#4 has good numbers, as well

Of these four, #3 has the best and safest numbers, with #4 a close second and #1 is probably good, as well. IS images would be nice, but since BN does not provide them, you can either purchase the stone and send it back if not to your satisfaction or buy from a vendor that provides photos and performance images.

Also, with any SI clarity diamonds, it may or may not be eye-clean (inclusions visible without magnification). You can ask your rep at BN to have it evaluated for you.

1 - nice, may lean toward fire and show less white light return.

2 - too shallow crown

3 - like this one best - best balance, excellent proportions

4 - my third choice

All possible to be good stone, prefer to see IS before deciding but not possible in this case.

1 is cut tending towards fire.
2 is a Brilliant Ideal Cut, good brilliance and spread but at the cost of fire, personal preference and priority.
3 looks promising.
4 looks promising.

Thank you so much for the feedback!

1. I like this one, but the polish is VG- would that matter?

3. Has twining wisps...should I be concerned? If it is eyeclean?

4. Has been deemed "eyeclean" but- it has a knot right in the table....is this a concern? Could the diamond chip/crack? -This would be my pick I think...

I wouldn't think wisps are better or worse than any other inclusions in an SI stone..

My stone has wisps. It's completely eyeclean face-up IRL, but the inclusions show up clearly in still photos.

My old stone had white crystals - I could find them if I searched face up IRL, but they weren't as blatant in pics.

http://www.goodoldgold.com/4Cs/Clarity/InclusionGallery/ has some pics.

VG polish is no issue.

1 looks good, it has grade making clouds in SI1 clarity so you would need to check these aren't impacting the performance of the stone.

2 Is what is called a brilliant ideal cut, these stones normally favour brilliance or white light over fire due to the proportion configuration. It could be a very bright, brilliant and spready stone as it is also a bit shallow in the depth. It also has clouds so these would need checking as above.

3 Has potential

4 Also has potential

You would also need to check the diamonds are eyeclean to your standards by asking your BN rep. Knots ( aka naat) aren't normally a durability issue but its best to check with an impartial expert such as an appraiser during the return period.

Update:

1. eye clean

2. eye clean

4. eye clean

Thoughts? Price is about the same for them all......

So if #3 is not eye-clean, I would go for #4 or #1.

To add my two cents:

Blue Nile is a great company, and there are lots of good experiences with them posted on here.

But I recently decided to go with GOG instead after careful consideration.

I found some stones on the BN website, but was disappointed that there were no pictures, ASET images, Sarin reports or other detailed information. I contacted GOG and told Jon exactly what I was looking for. It only took him a couple of days to find a stone with the exact specifications, and I was able to get an unbelievable amount of information to make my decision, including pictures, a video, ASET images and a Helium report which I was able to decipher with the detailed tutorials on the GOG website. And, the best news was that the prices on the GOG offerings were highly competitive with those on the BN website--even though GOG offers much better policies such as lifetime trade-up for $1 more!

Ditto jet.

Ok. So...it''s either #1 or #4. I would have picked #4 a long time ago, I am just sooooo paranoid about that stone with the knot even though it is eye clean. I am just worried that one day my diamond will crack - and that would be AWFUL!

Has anyone has experience with a knot in their stone?

You may want to post a thread asking about knots and durability in the title. That may allow some of the appriasers who frequent PS to see it and comment! Unfortunately it is the weekend and they are not around often then.

I have never read anything here on PS about knots and durability, only feathers. Where does your anxiety about it come from? Did you read something or is it the normal buyers worries?

Dachsie- Good idea....

I am just concerned b/c I read an article somewhere that said they were possibly a durability problem... This knot has a feather right beside it..otherwise this diamond looks really nice ( I think ) - just wondering if the knot in the table would make a difference in the visuals?

I will post another topic on this.
Thanks for the help!
