We are about to put a deposit on one of these diamonds in order to request a video from GOG comparing then. Before we do that though, I would like to get your opinion based on what you can see from the pictures and ASETs.

1. http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/11875/ .90ct H VS2 Ideal/Ideal, 6.05mm/6.07mm $6,706 ($7,451/ct)
2. http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/11703/ .99ct H VS2 Ideal/Ideal 6.32mm/6.35mm $7,255 ($7,328/ct)
3. http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/9594/ 1.05ct G SI1 Excellent/Ideal 6.43mm/6.40mm $8,568 ($8,160/ct)
4. http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/11880/ 1.23ct I SI1 Ideal/Ideal 6.66mm/6.68mm $9,143 ($7,433/ct)

Comments from GOG on #3 (I asked whether it was eye clean): "As soon as we all saw it, we each commented how nice it is. The inclusion is at the edge and can be set under a prong."

Edited post: One of the stones I listed was just purchased, so removed it.

Nevermind, the representative got confused and mixed up the 1.11 stone with another one, so it actually still is available!

5. http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/9597/ 1.11ct H SI2 Ideal/Ideal 6.48mm/6.51mm $7,320 ($6,595/ct)

Comments:
4. "I cannot see the inclusion. My 24 yr old co-worker did not see it until I told her where it is. She was then able to see it but it is very faint and doesn’t bother her at all."
5. "I know where the inclusion is and I couldn’t see it. The 20 year old saw it after she was directed where to look. It didn’t bother her at all."

Hi giriguineapig -

I'd definitely go with the 1.05 G SI 1. I put a lot of store by those ISee2 scores and have seen the difference in how the various stones perform based on that rating scale. I think they're a particularly good measure for an AVR, I love the G color, the inclusion is negligible, and the stone is over 1ct, which is always a mental milestone, while being cheaper than the 1.23ct stone you posted.

if you had the extra money and didn't mind a slightly warmer stone, I'd go with the 1.23 I SI1, but if you wanted something around the 1ct range and wanted to save a few bucks, I'd go with the .99 H VS2. But all things considered, it'd be the 1.05 G SI1 for me. I love G colored stones - they're the best of all worlds for me, and a white AVR is a wondrous thing!

Hi mrs-blop, I'm really glad you think that because I got antsy this morning and decided to go ahead and partially on instinct put that stone on hold (and get the video making process started!). The one inclusion on it can be covered with a prong and it's also the biggest of the "eye clean" stones. I can't wait to see a video! Still wonder what others think based on the photos provided - we don't really have a good feel of what the images really mean when it comes to how it'll look.

Hi girlguineapig

I can definitely see that the .9 is smallest. I can also see that the 1.05 is a tiny bit larger than the .99. So for me, the 1.05 comes up trumps in visible size. As for light return, they're all fabulous. But I have to say, the G SI1 also looks to have a few more broad flashes to me. For my money, I'd still go for that one.

Thanks mrs-blop. My boyfriend said he paid for the diamond today; I'm excited to see it in person! Hope I actually like OECs ;)

For the size, price and color I would buy this one...they are all great performers:

You cannot go wrong with an AVR, and I'm not a stickler for clarity ...as long as it doesn't have any glaring black inclusions. Close to eye clean is good enough for me. People will only see your gorgeous performing disco ball.

Oops...so you bought the G? I'm sure you will love it!

Hehe, thanks Ariel. I'm sure all the stones would perform well, so it's a matter of me like OEC cuts or not in general. In photos and videos I love them!

Sorry I didn't see this earlier! All of the stones are superior! You could not make a bad choice! I would choose the 1.23 I stone if it was eyeclean to me. It is only $600 more than the G and I'd much rather have the larger size. But see if you love the facet pattern, and then consider looking at the larger one before making a final decision. Because I will tell you from experience, the larger the stone, the more you enjoy that gorgeous facet pattern! I went from a G mrb to an I color AVR!

Yes, the 1.23 is tempting but I'm concerned that we might become OCD-ish about the inclusion on the table. Doesn't help that we are Asian I guess; my mom is already very skeptical even about an inclusion that can be covered by a prong! I wish there were more options from 1.1 to 1.2 carats, but let's see how I like the 1.05 first. :)

Okay, well, I understand that all too well! I actually had the chance to buy another AVR very close to the one I got but it was SI1 versus VS1, and I just couldn't do the inclusion, either. Most people here don't seem to care as much, so I recommend SI1 stones to others if they are eyeclean. But to be totally honest, I just don't even look below VS2 for myself!

I can't wait to see what you think about it! I love well cut diamonds of all kinds, but I think the AVR's are extra special!

The 1.05 G just doesn't seem like the best value when compared to the .90 H. You're paying 33% more for just .4 mm.

I'd prefer the 1.23 I... if the inclusion doesn't make you crazy!

@teobdl: Yes, the size question is difficult...at some point you need to pick a size though! I will be checking the setting I'm most interested in store to see how the proportions with the 1.05 work out. (The setting has a lot of side stones)

Oh, I'd far rather have the 1.05 G over the .90 H. You can absolutely see the difference between 6 mm and 6.4 mm. In fact, if I had the extra money, I'd love to upgrade my studs from 6mm to a carat each. But the price increase on two stones is more than I can justify!

I got the diamond today and we went to Jared to see how it looks in the setting I'm interested in (marquise sides). I *definitely* like OEC over MRB, so that's settled! I'm still a little torn between heart vs round though. I think the heart cut looks better with the setting I picked, but now looking at the AVR, I think I would love it in a solitaire! (It already looks like a flower which is how the setting looks)

The thing that complicates this is that my boyfriend sprung on me that his mom (who passed away) had two rings: one with a modern round, and one with a heart shape diamond! Now I need to see that heart shape in person before I can make a decision. This will be tough because that heart will be free (and sentimental; his mom was not only super nice but had great taste), and the AVR $8,580. I feel like I will have to like the AVR a LOT to choose it over a free stone (the setting for the heart would be ~$2,000 and a solitaire for an AVR maybe ~$1,000?).

My boyfriend's little brother can take the modern round ;)

If there are other priorities for the $8k now, you should go for the heart since you love that too.
