Which eternity band works better with my E-ring and why?

My engagement ring is a classic 1.5 (ratio) EC in a platinum setting (pictured with my original band). Pretty simple. I have been looking for a new chunkier eternity band and I am having trouble deciding which band will look better. The square cuts seemed like a lot of severe geometry but I fear the asschers are not quite right.....

My vote is for the carre band - I don't like large asscher eternities because I don't like how the cut corners produce "holes" (same reason I don't like channel-set round eternities). Personally my first preference - if it were open slather - would be for a large French cut eternity (similar to Harriet's), but failing that, I definitely prefer the carres.

Hmmm I'm not crazy about the channel set either. Too bulky with your ring. I like pancake's suggestion of the large french cuts, that would be gorgeous.

Mostly wanted to say I love your E-ring.

I agree with pancake. I might also use a milgrained edge to match your er (like your original band), unless you're going for an unmatched look.

thanks everyone! i love the asschers symmetry but i dont like the clipped corners showing

Thanks--I love my e-ring too! I really do. I designed it myself and I really have never had a moment of I wish I had done it differently.

I'm sort of loving the thinner bands with wider ering shanks. The look is pretty cool!

I don't care for the asscher band with your ering - too much, too large and two different looks. Your ering is beautiful and should be the star of the show without competing. I chose a five stone band as a RHR as I think the right hand compliments the left hand without taking anything away from my ering and thin wedding band. I love symmetry, matching, etc. so you'll have to overlook me - I realize my opinion is not the same as everyone else's!

Thanks--your 5 stone is amazing! My hope was a chunky band to wear or without my e-ring.

I like your current wb with your ering. I like the idea of french cuts also. If we're only choosing between these two bands, I would choose the carre wb.

hmm, both lovely choices, have you thought about horizontal set baguettes perhaps? or bezel baguettes?

I like the first one. The clipped corners of the stones better suit your e ring.

bgray...how about something with less gold to enhance your GORGEOUS ering?

I agree. Maybe something like this? It would be pretty with milgrain edges.

i struggle with the emerald cut bands because there is too much going in the same direction and with the horizontal baguettes--too much in different directions?????????? :((

bgray - I've just looked at this thread again, and I still think that French or carre cuts are better. However, looking at your set, I think a chunkier eternity is going to look too clunky with the delicate antique-y style of your engagement ring. What about flanking bands (or keeping your current wedder) for your left hand, and a chunkier eternity for your right?

bgray do you have a pic where your current band is next to your ering? I think I am with pancake on this one-I like your current band and worry that a much chunkier one would not go well with your ering...but could be great on your right hand! I think the set is perfect as is :)

you are SO right. i realize I wanted something that just didnt go with the e-ring. a chunky band like these would need to be a stand-alone band.

...in which case you can get WHATEVER you want!!!

What about the pavilion side up French cuts a la Leon mege?

you are funny and RIGHT! :appl:

I'm late to the party. Did you ever decide?
I love step-Cuts!! Your EC is beautiful! My set includes a vertically set center EC in my e-ring, and my WR has horizontally set baguettes. Honestly, I understand the hesitance considering sparkle in both directions, but it's amazing the way they compliment one another.
I am in the process of creating my very own bespoke Asscher Anniversary Band. Finding a suite of 7 has proved to be a challenge. I found a suite of 9 Carre Cuts that I love for an amazing price, but they are not quite the size I was looking for, and I am in love with the design of the Asscher cut; I want windmills & extra facets. I also love cut corners; more uniform with my EC.
I believe this choice presents quite a conundrum; too many choices. :lol-2:
I do hope you were able to decide, as I'm literally DYING to see your final product!! I started trolling through your threads, but I have not yet stumbled upon a thread for a new band.
Please attach the link to the thread, if it exists, here. I'd love to see it!!!
