diamond 2

Diamond 1 is 700.00 more and although it's GIA the specs fall within whiteflash A cut above requirements except for the star which is 45. Is the star of 45 something to be concerned with? The star is the only thing out of line otherwise this diamond would be A cut above just like diamond 2. My other small concern is that diamond 1 is j color. I already have diamond 2 and it's color H and looks great so I think a GIA J color would probably be fine. The main reason I think diamond 1 may be better is that's is 1.17 carat and diamond 1 is .89. This would give me a substantially bigger stone. So would j color be okay and would the star being 45 be okay? Thank you guys

I would not assume that because you are fine with H color that you'll also be fine with J color. I can see tint in J color stones quite easily. However, I do think I color can be a good option for those who want a little more size.

Do you have images such as magnified pictures and idealscope on #1? You cannot judge a stone as being equivalent to an ACA unless it has hearts images which can verify if it is a H&A cut. The numbers on the GIA report and rounded and do not tell the full story. A vendor like GOG takes GIA EX stones and runs them through the AGS software and can determine if they meet AGS Ideal cut optics, but you still need the hearts images to determine if it can be correctly called H&A.

You may also want to download the cert from GIA and look at the plot of the larger stone. Yes, the clarity characteristic IS right in the middle of the table...

Ah, and in addition, it says "clarity grade is based on clouds that are not shown".
