I am looking at 2 pairs for studs:

Pair 1

34.5/40.8 15.0% 43.0% LFG 75% 61.5/56%T GIAEx HCA: 1.3
34.2/40.8 15.2%/43.0% LFG 76% 61.1/55.5%T AGS0Id HCA: 1.0

Pair 2

34.5/40.8 15.0% 43% LFG 80% 61.4%/56%T GIAEx HCA:1.2
34.5/40.8 15.0% 43% LFG 80% 61.3%/57%T GIAEx HCA:1.3

I need your expert opinion!

If you are buying sight unseen, with no images, but return policy is good, have your own ID and ASET Scopes, which pair would you choose and why? which pair has the best combo for brilliance and sparkle?

Either could be great, but I think I''d pick the first pair. You''re only "guessing" on one stone, as you have the actual numbers on the AGS stone.

not enough information for an expert opinion.

My off the cuff opinion is the first pair as I like a little shorter lgf% for earrings.
What is the price difference if any?

Ellen, thanks, thats a good point!

Storm, thanks, the price diff. is only $70. I am also a little weary about the 80% lfg. If its less, I don''t mind but if its more....
The clairty on the 1st pair is better but lower in color.

From the info we have, I would probably go with the first pair too.

Thanks, yah, I probably will go for the 1st pair. I am trying to talk to a PS vendor to get these virtual stones for me, then I will see how I go from there. If PS vendor would do it, I might be able to get images. Am crossing my fingers!!

Hi Meg,

They round as follows 70, 75, 80, 85% and so on, rounded to the nearest 5%.

I think it would be like 72.5 You could ask the jeweler to make sure they are not too far apart.

Yeah, no one is fond of GIA''s rounding.

However, my "guess" would be, that they''re at the higher end and not the lower. But of course you''d need to ask. You''ve got a bit of leeway ether way where there''s not going to be a noticeable difference. A 74 and an 80, yes. A 75 and a 77, not really. They don''t have to "match" perfectly.

No! I am not confident with guessing. The stones are with BN and since I am overseas (Switzerland) it will be troublesome for me to return, tax refund etc.

Ellen, have you heard of the new platinium AGS grading report which started beg. of this year? I happened onto Brian Gavin''s new website which announces the new launching of his Signature H&A diamonds. Can you tell me more about it? I have contacted Brian and Lesley about getting me the pair.

No I haven''t! Will have to check up on that.

I would agree, considering your situation, that you would be better off going with a vendor you trust, that can eyeball the stones and speak with you at length about them. Brian will take very good care of you!
