Hi!

I am trying to evaluate whether this diamond from Blue Nile looks good:

Carat weight: 1.09

Cut: Very Good

Color: I

Clarity: VS2

Depth %: 59.2%

Table %: 60%

Symmetry: Good

Polish: Good

Girdle: Thin to slightly thick

Culet: Small

Fluorescence: Strong blue

Measurements: 6.69x6.78x3.99 mm

But, I can''t seem to find anything on crown or pavillion, even in the GIA report. Should I call and ask? From the information here, does this seem like a nice diamond that should have some good sparkle? I know someone who works for Blue Nile, so I might just call her...Thank you!!

GIA reports don''t provide the crown and pavilion angles. Therefore, you have to ask Blue Nile for a Sarin or OGI Megascope report. However, I am not sure if they will provide it for you if it is not a signature series stone. Have you tried looking at other websites that provide this info with the stone? www.goodoldgold.com and www.niceice.com come to mind. I think that they may have a few fancy cut stones in their inventory... or you can contact them and ask.

GIA do not include crown and pavilion angles on their reports yet, perhaps next year.
What you need to do is call the vendor and ask for a Sarin or Ogi report. Most reputable vendor would be able to comply

...and if they refuse to give you a Sarin or Megascope report, it''s probably because the stone is poorly cut. You''ll notice that for BlueNile''s Signature Series, they only get AGSL or GCAL reports since you can actually determine something about cut quality from those. But remember 3 things:

1. Every vendor will tell you that Cut is the most important of the 4 c''s

2. GIA reports are USELESS in trying to determine cut quality

3. An AGS Ideal 0 isn''t even necessarily a good cut, since it''s possible for a stone to be cut within AGS 0 but still be a poor performer (plenty of info here about this, and looking at an HCA graph will explain this)

Thus, I''d never buy from BlueNile because I think they give insufficient information from which to determine cut quality.
