I hope I am posting in the right forum for this...
Hi! I have looky looed here from time to time, and am now here with my first post. I would like to know if anyone can recommend a great jeweler (with great prices!) in the Los Angeles area. I have the ring setting, and am looking for a radiant diamond. I would not rule out buying via the internet, but since I would need to have it set, I would much rather have a relationship with a local jeweler. I am also looking to purchase a wedding band, and am hoping to accomplish all of this with the same jeweler. I have read many negative things here about the NY DD...what about the "jewelry mart" in L.A.? I have friends who swear there are reputable jewelers and great deals to be had there. I appreciate any and all help. Thanks!

Hi Gretsch, please do a search for LA Jewelry Mart or District. There are more than a few postings about it. Be aware, though that good radiants are hard to find, so it might take any of the vendors some time to find ou some good comparison stones. I would not venture forth without a $35 Idealscope, though. It is important to get some experience and develop an 'eye' for what stone looks good to your eye AND with the Idealscope. Have fun!

Caratgirl: Try GEM TECH Jewelry Corporation near 7th street in LA Jewelry district.

I have read most of the previous posts regarding the L.A. jewelry district. I was pleased to see Eli's, as that is where my first wedding band was purchased. The band isn't the finest craftsmanship I have seen, but it's nice and was a terrific price. I do not have experience with them with loose diamonds. Does anyone know if they are a good place to shop for loose diamonds? Does anyone have experience with Rondel's? They have been in business since the 70's in the L.A. jewelry district, and do not have any negative reports with the bbb, but that doesn't mean that they deal with quality diamonds. I am interested in some of their wedding bands, but do not know what to think about their loose stones. I would like to upgrade my diamond and get a new band with the same jeweler. Any and all info/advice is much appreciated. Thanks!
