I am looking at Blue Nile and James Allen. Anyone who has purchased from here, what have been your experiences with them and the product you got in the end? Does anyone have any other preference to purchase from?

I think you''ll find many great reviews about BN and JA, not to mention many other PS vendors. In my opinion, all of the vendors here carry beautiful stones. I would go with the company that carries the setting that I want and has a good upgrade policy. FWIW, I don''t think that BN has an upgrade policy whereas JA does.

I''m getting my ring from Whiteflash btw.

They are reputable, the only problem I had with BlueNile is they don''t provide many of the images (ASET, actual photo, etc.) that many of the other vendors do.

I personally used Union Diamond and was very happy with the information they provided.

Both Blue Nile and JA are reputable.

I agree with the previous posters re Blue Nile and JA, and would add...

Blue Nile's settings seem expensive to me for the quality.

JA -- good selection of reasonably priced settings. I like how they offer their settings in a variety of metals (platinum, 14 kt and 18 kt gold). They do provide IS, but sometimes you have to request them, which can slow down your purchasing process. My biggest beef with them is with their H&A stones -- make sure if you are looking at one of these that they provide hearts images and that the hearts images show that the stone is truly H&A. Otherwise, don't spend the extra money for H&A, stick with their AGS ideal and GIA ex stones

I purchased a stone from JA, and sent it back because the stone was sold as H&A, even though (at the time) they did not provide hearts images. I felt I didn't get what I paid for. They now provide hearts images on their H&A stones so they have addressed this issue.

JA's customer service is good, but if upgrading is important to you, other companies have less restrictive upgrade policies.

I bought two Crafted by Infinity stones from Wink at High Performance Diamonds. I have been very happy with the beauty and quality of Infinity stones, and the customer service from Wink. Wink is now making my setting (Wink has stock settings and does custom design). My Infinity came with a great buyback policy (80%) and upgrade/trade-in policy (which I've already taken advantage of -- it was painless). In addition, all Infinity stones come with one year's worth of insurance. I believe Wink also told me that my setting is insured for a year -- have to double check on that.

Look at the Testimonials forum on Pricescope for other consumer reviews of vendors. You will find that the vendors who post/advertise on Pricescope have good reputations and satisfied customers. Individual posters, like me, can give you our advice/experience, but in the end, if you are clear about your priorities (e.g., cost savings, customer service, carat size, proximity to a vendor, etc.) and you do your research not only on what the vendor sells (stones and settings) but also their customer service, return policies, trade-in, buy-back, etc., you can't go wrong with any of the vendors you read about here. Choose the one that most closely matches your priorities.

Thank you for your kind comments Sara. You are in fact covered for the first year and will be offered the opportunity to renew that insurance after your year is up.

Whiteflash--top notch all the way.

My stone was purchased from Good Old Gold and my setting from Signed Pieces (Facets). I have nothing but positive to say about both!!!

There are many other PS vendors that I would have no qualms about using, either! Lorelei provided a great list above...

I purchased my diamond through Good Old Gold. I had my eye on it for a while and from the time of purchase to when I picked it up was only three business days! Wooohooo

Their emails were always very quick and helpfull. When I took it to my local Jared''s to have it set (I

them too and they completely understand why I don''t buy loose diamonds from them) they were all oohs and ahhs over its beauty and the WONDERFUL full booklet of ALL the diamond photos and specs. GOG also has a great upgrade policy if that might be a future thought.

My votes for GOG

Center stone purchased at Union Diamond -- but we flew to Atlanta to view a few stones before picking "the" stone.
Then had the stone set locally. Great experience with the folks at Union.

For three of my diamonds, I picked Whiteflash because they have all the images and numbers right up on the website. It''s nice being able to know the info before calling in to ask further questions about a stone. Also, they have an excellent upgrade policy.
