I have some gucci dog tags, that I want to put some little diamonds around it.
Do any of you know where I can get this?
Also is it easy to have them set on them?
how much am I looking at?

here is a picture of the dog tags.

Can't tell you much about the price without actually seeing the tags to determine the depth and what size diamond will fit. Color, clarity will affect price obviously. A local jeweler can determine what size is needed. We can source the melee (small diamonds) for you in extremely fine make.

NiceIce is great to work with and also WhiteFlash.com has extremely tiny melee stones that are super-ideal H&A cut...kind of fun. Not sure if yours need to be square because WF's melee are only round right now...but maybe an option.

Robin& Todd,

Are there outside sources (Overseas) which also cut these smaller diamonds (melee) with the Hearts & Arrows pattern.

I am aware Whiteflash markets these and have seen the pattern. Very nice Optical symmettry..I am wondering if there are other reputable sources or vendors such as yourself that have access to these stones?

Mara, is there a place in the bay area where I could take the tags and have them put diamonds on it?

Diamond studed dog tags

... Why not!

Those in the picture look thin: this is an issue if you want the stones embeded flush with the metal. Otherwise, there will be some prongs or something and I would not like that on anybody's FUR...

You could probably take them to Joe Escobar in Campell for setting...they do custom stuff. Though I would call ahead and talk to Erik Carlson (who is familiar with this forum), and let him know what you are thinking of doing and confirm that it's something they can do for you.

Good luck

I will try to contact him, thanks...

Why would you want to put diamonds on something which looks so cheap? The only people I have seen wearing dog tags on their neck are soldiers. Otherwise I've seen those things attached to Gucci clothing in stores.
It looks like you got it from some Gucci tshirt. Will your dog really appreciate those diamonds?

Surely you could think of a better use for diamonds?

HAHAHAHAHA, well the dog tags are for me! They are just like the military ones, except they are made by gucci and are gold. Not just like gucci or like in their tshirt. BTW if you saw a gucci tshirt with dog tags printed on them or attached, that shirt is a fake!
Anyways is more of a fashion thing...Now days is all about the bling-bling!
And those togs tags arent cheap. I just want to make my dog tags stand out more.

Nothing made by Gucci is cheap!!

I think it's an awesome idea, Carlos...fun to differentiate.

Then again I really want Trista's 50k diamond encrusted wedding shoes. I'll have to settle for some with crystals instead..hee hee.

this is waht I have in mind, except gucci authentic tags

bling-bling? The chain those dog tags are attached to actually look like a toe nail clipper chain.

hahahaha....its just the style...look in the last bad boys 2 movie, will smith wears one too...Its just a fashion thing...
Those chains are made in white gold and silver...Unless you use white gold clippers...
I guess its not for you, maybe you should stick with fords...
Dont hate!... Appreciate!

I dont hate, I guess everyone has their own style. I am rarely influenced by american propaganda and some fad that a moviestar is wearing.

Wear it with pride if it makes you happy

Sorry to say, but I had my dog tags way before the movie came out...
I jsut went to gucci and saw them and bought them... I only picked up the idea of the diamonds when I saw the movie...
Hate? but all you do is critize what im trying to do. First they look cheap, they look like toe nail clippers chain, Now Im a wanna be movie star...HHMMM arent you hating?

Toska, I guess putting the Ford logo in your avatar happened on one of those few days when you were 'rarely influenced by American propaganda.'

lol, cg i think there is a huge ford factory in aussie so he could equate it as an aussie thing rather than 'merican

LMAO.....

Well...I can see I have nothing helpful to say about the *current* dog tags under discussion. On the other hand, if anyone reading this ever wants to know about diamond (or ruby or sapphire) tags for four-legged dogs, I can help you find them. Maybe what I saw were charms of dogs for *people's* charm bracelets encrusted with gems. Oh nevermind....

My affiliation with Ford is generations old, it is strictly an Australian thing, Ford has been in Australia since 1926 and has always designed and made its own vehicles.

By the way we make better Ford's in Australia!

Compare USA's flagship models to Australia's...

Taurus vs Falcon
F-Series vs Territory

Diamond's are not my expertise, but automobile's are.

Cali6869, don't confuse lame attempts at humour as "hating"

Toska, maybe you should be more clear next time...Definitely your lame attempts of humor or sarcasm were directed at me.
Sorry but I dont see it in another way...You critize me and my style...some people would consider that as personal.
Anyways I dont really care, people taking shiet behing their monitors dont really concern me.
And as far as automobiles, sorry to say, but Ford its an american company, because they are assembled in Australia doesnt mean they are any different. And dont think that I dont know about those cars, I was just in australia 2 months ago. I was in sydney and in the goldcost, I go there at least every other year. Thsoe fords are the same cars, they all share the same chassis, just some of them have bigger engines, but they are not any better.
BTW dont think I dont know anything about cars...I would consider automobiles my expertise too, Check Besser Engineering I own that company.
But just like in style, every one has its own, I prefer german cars and I guess you prefer Fords (Fix Or Repair Daily) but I have to respect it. So the same way goes to you, you respect my taste in style.
So next time you have comments for others, save it for your Ford buddies.

Hey, I'm on my 4th Taurus. Don't make generalizations. All of them had over 100K miles, few repair problems & cheap as chips to repair. Geez, why is it the guys always take things down the car alley?

BTW, Toska, Dog tags have a meaning here that transcends quite a bit.

Sorry to break it to you, but Fords are designed from the ground up in Australia, it's an absolute insult to compare our Australian models to their inferior american counterparts. Do not think for one second that just because Fords are assembled in Mexico with parts made in Dearborn that is the same case around the world.

Australian Fords are leaps and bounds ahead of the American models. Ford often share idea's with their cousin companies Aston Martin and Jaguar. Many of the components you find in the luxury cars have been adapted to Australian models and vice versa. In 2004 Ford Australia will be revolutionizing the handling of SUV's.

Besser engineering doesn't seem to have anything to do with automobiles. I consider myself an expert on the topic, not because I OWN an engineering company, but because I work in a departmant called Powertrain(Engine & Chassis) for a certain car manufacturer.
I've driven and tested many vehicles from many places. I agree with your comments on the German vehicles, but as we often talk about on this forum, it's all about the bang for your buck. If you wan't to pay a small fortune for a great german car then that's great, but when it comes down to the features that a Ford Falcon, designed and built in Australia can offer then $24,500 USD, is a bargain compared to cars which cost 2-3 times more and don't have the features/handling/performance of the Falcon.

Why is is that the Ford Faclon XR6 Turbo won 3rd best sports car 2003 in the world? Now this car costs $33,500 USD, and the cars which received 1st & 2nd place were a mercedes which costs over $147,000 USD and a Jaguar which costs $117,000 USD.

It's fun to see you get your knickers in a knot.

Ford might be a global brand, but they're as American as apple pie, Yoo-Hoo, and Orange threat levels. Nice to see you've swallowed the Ford Kool-Aid.

The only thing American about Ford Australia is the badge and the F-Series imports that are sold in Australia.

Maybe Ford Canada have a much closer affiliation with Ford USA, than the Australian's do.

Just wondering, does Ford Canada have the same vehicle line up as Ford USA?

Yes. But we build Fords here as well. There's a giant Ford factory in Oakville, Ontario - home of the Windstar and a few others.

I drove Fords for six years. Worked for two companies that had national contracts with Ford for their sales & marketing peeps. Drove the Windstar and had to have the entire engine removed to fix the airconditioning system...had only had the thing for six weeks. Drove the Taurus and got stranded on the highway after running out of gas - faulty fuel gauge. Lastly, drove the Explorer and had, you guessed it, bad tires. Around here, Ford stands for "Found On Road Dead" or "Fix Or Repair Daily."

And I don't care if they make cars in Timbuktu, they're still an American company.

Yes, I know about the factory in Ontario, the Engine Plant and Stamping plants in Geelong Australia were modelled on its design.

You must mean Windsor, which is a type of engine? I have never heard of windstar, is it a vehicle? Faulty air conditioning? Ford do not make car air conditioning units, they are outsourced like all other car manufacturers do.

Faulty fuel gauge, I wonder who their component supplier is. Ford does not make any fuel gauges, it could of happened to a $1,000,000 ferrari and they would tell you the same thing, fuel gauges are outsourced.

The explorer had bad tyres? Well you have Firestone to blame for that. He is busy appearing on "ho wants to marry a millionaire" when he should be improving the crappy tyres they sell.

Once you come up with a genuine engine or structural problem, like the engines that leak oil that General Motors have made for more over a decade then come back to me. Till then Ford is the flagship of affordable automobiles.

Perhaps your idea of quality is one of those Hyandai's that need to be replaced after 100,000 kms.

This is ridiculous. For pete's sake, I have been stranded for 2 days in bumtuck w/ a foreign - most reliable my parents can give me - auto. My taurus has never left me stranded. NEVER.

That said, FORD is quintisental Americana. I have a cold. I had a glass of wine to unstuff me. I'm just lovin my American Ford.

If the guy wants to wear dogs tags w/ diamonds, what's it to anyone? And, when did it become an internation incident.

Does no one remember the Vietnam war?

The vietnam war was unjustified, America decided to invade Vietname ONLY because they were communists. History has seen itself repeat many times since then... a certain country invading other countries for no justified reason.

fire&ice, americans car manufacturers are still making SOHC (single overhead camshaft) engines. Ford Australia makes a DOHC(double overhead camshaft) with VCT(Variable Camshaft Timing) True the americans are lacking us aussies
2.gif
but so are the rest of the australian car manufacturers in comparison to Ford.

In Australia we decided to stop selling the Ford Mustang Cobra which is supposed to be one of the top V8 cars in the U.S in it's respective price category. You might ask why? Well the Cobra has 160 horsepower / 193 kilowatts of power, as opposed to the Aussies Falcon 390 horsepower / 290 kilowatts.

I dont mean to take a dig at American Fords quality wise, but we truly make beasts in Australia. Our cars are powerful and have better handling characteristics.
Up_to_something.gif

It's strange how Ford USA had to supercharge their hotted up version of the cobra to reach 390 horsepower, while the naturally aspirated Falcon is 390 without a supercharger. Imagine the power of it once a supercharger or Turbo is slapped on. We have no need to do that yet, unless the competitors pick up their game, then we can take the next surprise out of the bag, always remaining on top.
