Where Can I Buy This EXACT Setting?

I just found this site today, and I'm hoping this community can help because I'm in a tight spot. Long story short, I found the setting that I want for my engagement ring, but I wasn't really comfortable with the jeweler. I've visited other jewelers, and all of them tell me either a.) they can custom make the exact same ring, or b.) they have it. In both cases, they were wrong. One jeweler drew up some CAD work, and it looked nothing like the ring I want; every ring that I've been shown that was "definitely the ring" has only had a few shared characteristics (channel, tapered, etc.). Does anyone know where I can find this exact ring? I apologize for the picture quality.

Thank you so much for your help.

Looks like an Ingwer. I'd send the picture to GOG and ask them if they carry it.

Thank you for the response. Unfortunately, I'm new so I don't know whom/what GOG is--I tried to Google it, and, uh, let's just say I don't think that's the GOG you're referencing. If you could clarify, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks again.

Thank you both for your replies/clarifications. I just finished sending off an email, and am very hopeful. In the meantime, if anyone else has any more information regarding where I could purchase this setting, I would be grateful.

Thanks again. This community is awesome.

Milton--

First off, thanks for the response and all of the legwork; I really appreciate it.

Yes, it is a cathedral with channel set diamonds. In regards to the diamonds being graduated, to be honest, I can't remember. The best answer I can give is that the way they were set at least gave the illusion that they were tapering in size. Many of your examples were close, but I'm actually looking for exactly this one. 1.) I like the super clean profile of the setting. 2.) I really like that it's all soft edges, including the prongs. 3.) The tapering of the channel is at the top and the bottom. The tapering is very pronounced from a top view. I know this may sound ridiculous, but I like how "flow-y" the setting appears; it reminds me of a leaf.

Thanks again for your help.

That's a lovely setting! I hope you find it.

If Good Old Gold doesn't carry it, you might try sending your shots to some of the other PriceScope vendors. Just go to the "resources
tab and choose "featured sponsor" - which really should be re-named "featured sponsors", since it provides links to many high-quality vendors.

Many/most ringmakers will inscribe their name or mark inside the band of their rings. Can you go back to this jeweler and take a peak?

Unfortunately, I don't think that's a possibility. The jeweler and I kind of had a falling out. I explained to him what I was looking for, and told him that I'd know what I want when I saw it, so just let me look at everything peacefully, and I'd ask questions/make comments if I had them. He said he understood, but then went on and did exactly what I didn't want: complimented each ring I picked up, told me I had great taste, said he could tell I was a smart guy, etc. He made me so uncomfortable that I left. After going to other jewelers, I returned once more to look at the setting again, this time thinking I was going to buy it, but again, he made me uncomfortable/annoyed, so I said I had to think about it. His response was, "you've already thought about it. What else do you have to do?"

So yeah, I don't think he and I will be seeing each other anytime soon.

In semi-related news, this is the closest I've found yet: http://www.gabrielengaged.com/style/ER8188W44JJ

To be honest, it may even be it, but 1.) the prongs in my picture seem less curved and more upright (something I like) 2.) I can't tell if the channel tapers at the bottom in the Gabriel & Co. setting 3.) The Gabriel setting says it has 10 stones, but in my picture it looks like the setting has 12 (six on each side)

Any insights?

(I told you I was picky. Sorry.)

For what it's worth, I like the Gabriel one better. Good Old Gold sells them.

Yeah, I found the link to Gabriel & Co. on the GOG website after Gypsy recommended it. Like I said, it may be the exact ring, just from a different angle...

I don't think the G&Co setting is the same to the one posted - it has 5 diamonds on each side while the one posted has 6. Still, it looks REALLY close. I would want to see a sideshot to see if the band tapers down to a narrower width after the channel setting, like the one posted.

I like the Gabriel and Company one is nicer as well.

Do you have a friend (or maybe one of her friends) that would be able to go in and check it out and/or ask questions about it?

I did consider doing that, but I figured that I'd try my luck and throw it out here as well. In my recollection though, there were no markings on the inside of the setting. Maybe if I send a secret shopper he/she will find otherwise.

Thanks for the continued help.

I really think it's either ingwer or stuller. I'd be really surprised if GOG couldn't find it for you.

Often there's a hallmark on the inside of the ring shank indicating who made it.

Perhaps the jeweler has other sales staff that you might 'click' better with. This seems like a problem with the particular salesperson, not with the products or even with the store. Is this a big store or a mom and pop sort of operation?

great idea. I am sure you will be able to find this type of setting :)

I spoke with someone at GOG today. We checked, and unfortunately it's not Ingwer. I'll keep trying. Thanks for all of the continued help, and if anyone has any more suggestions/knowledge, please don't hesitate to help.

Thanks.

It might be Unique Settings possibly.

OP, did you see the original ring in a chain store? Maybe if we knew what chain (or even what store if it wasn't a chain), we could find out what lines they carry and do some more sleuth work?

Sonnyjane, I appreciate the suggestion--and willingness to sleuth--but I don't feel that it's appropriate for me to say what store it is after I made some of my negative comments about them.

Truthfully, I also think the Gabriel and Co. setting looks much nicer. Plus it probably would work better with a wedding band.

Update: I've been in talks with GOG for the last few days. They thought they found the ring, an Ingwer, but unfortunately it's not an Ingwer. Also, the Gabriel & Co. which looked so promising in the photos proved to only be tapered at the top. So once again, if anyone has any further help, I'd really appreciate it. The day of the proposal keeps inching closer and closer...

We really do need more clues ...
