what would be the maximum mileage you would accept when you drive off the car lot?

<10 miles? <50? <100? ...I'd ask for a car with <10 miles on the OD unless there is a reason for being over 10 miles. ..i.e...when we bought my wife's car in 2006 the dealer said they are going to trade car with another dealership who was 55 miles away (from Concord to San Jose), so he said for us to expect about 60 miles on the OD at the time of delivery. I knew that the dealership in Concord had the color we wanted but they were asking like $900 more for the car, even with my haggling skills they refused to match price with the dealer in San Jose.. it could have been a lot easier for every one involved with the purchase of the car.

3. Total of 3. Because I was in the car industry for a long time, I know how many miles it takes them to get from the factory to the truck and the truck to the lot.

20.

The higher the number the higher the chance some idiot test drove it by flooring the accelerator, cornering hard and slamming on the brakes.

Well under 50. More than that and I would expect a discount and wonder why so many people had driven and not purchased...

One had about 10 since we test drove twice that day. Our current car had 2 or 3 since we special ordered and no one else had driven (except the whole getting onto trucks part).

I wanna be the idiot that does all that.

20. I understand that a car gets test driven. The loops around here are about 5 miles, so 20 miles seems reasonable. I think the last new car I had had 8 miles on it.

My new car had 4 miles on it. I wouldn't accept anymore than 50 unless it was driven from another dealership.

Mine had 500. It was the only one with all of my requirements in the SW. It only has 60k miles on it now and it's 13 years old.

Me, too. Vroom Vroom!!

To be honest, I did not pay any attention to the mileage already on the clock when I picked up my new car in 2002, as I was too busy admiring her and taking photos etc...

DK :))

Mine had 12 miles on it, which I thought was reasonable. It was built in Germany, shipped to US, and they better have driven it around to make sure everything is in working order before delivery to me.

Mine had 12 kms on it, so 7 miles. I would expect 20 kms or less.

I think hubbys pick up had about 50 on it...we live in the country, so it was reasonable...I bought my used, it had 43,000 on it.

500 miles. We had to request a car from another dealership. I would have preferred less, but we were able to save about $10k and 6 months of wait time. A new car and a new diamond tennis bracelet is better than just a new car alone. :naughty:

I think mine had about 200. I don't remember why exactly but there weren't many available so I took what I could. I also knew it had been transferred from a dealer in another state and they just drove it. I've got the car over 50k now and haven't had anything major creep up and I beat that car from daily driving in Brooklyn.

I'd want less than 200. The car I have now had 8 on it before we test drove it.
