When the wedding band won’t sit flush with the e-ring

I’ve tried on many bands with my e-ring and they all look really odd. Nothing sits flush. I love it when rings don’t match perfectly in the photos on SMTB. Somehow, the look isn’t translating well onto my finger. Am I doing something wrong? The wedding band sits wonky against the basket of the ring.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? One of the jewelers suggested a ring that sort of wraps around the diamond. That look wasn’t for me. I would like to stack rings with my e-ring.

Can you post a pic?

I prefer a gap!

I love a stack and with my own ring I like to have a thinner ring next to the e-ring and then my eternity band. I have worn a thin antique platinum band as a "spacer" basically since the day after I got married.

A pic of your e-ring or the style of your e-ring would help!

I think a thinner band more similar in width and height to your e ring would work.

Is it hitting against the basket, like this?

I really like that!!

I do have the ring against the basket but it leans to join the shank of the e-ring on th back of my finger. I think that is creating the problem.

Thinner bands have been worse.

You've got a big gap because of the base where the head attaches. A curved band would fit better with your style engagement ring.

@farrahlyn...earlier I posted to request a link to the SMTB photo/thread 'cause I am thinking of a new solitaire setting for a diamond and all the designs I prefer will not sit "flush" with the band(s) I wear. I deleted my earlier post 'cause I found your post with the SMTB like. The spacer is pretty and a nice idea to a curved band. Thanks for posting the thread!

i could see that happening, it's a pretty big gap.

YW! When i ran across that thread yesterday i thought it was SO pretty. a really nice way to fill the gap without having to go with a curved wedding band. i've been eyeing that JA band for myself but i think it's too wide for me. Etsy seems to have a LOT of them as well if you search for "Open wedding band".

Same problem here, @farrahlyn. I have the shortest, most arthritic, UGLIEST fingers ever, so I cannot stack much, nor am I comfortable mentally or physically wearing anything too large on my left hand ring finger. And I'm not much of a jewelry wearer, so I haven't worn a right-hand ring in years.

It's not surprising the Etsy jewelry folks are designing these types of bands. Antique-style settings with baskets, halos, etc are so popular! I'll take a peek at Etsy (which I love) if I ever get a new solitaire setting-smile! Thank you!

I hate curved bands, so I highly favor the open band!!!

Ditto what you 2 just said, but does the open band shift around? Does the ER become kinda disengaged?
