What's your holy grail, Moby Dick, the one you're always looking for?

Not sure if this counts as a gemstone, but an antique piece of hornbill ivory. The immense historic, biological, and ecological value has me perpetually looking for some.
 
I have replaced the Imperial Topaz from Jeff White that I reluctantly sold last year with a Katlang pink Topaz to be cut by him in his signature Asscher/windmill cut.

After that, it will be a Paraiba cabochon, and I shall save up for that one, perhaps to return to Tucson in 2029/30 to buy one in person!

My admiration for that piece goes beyond desire... I'm jealous. I hope Mrs. Nantucket appreciates what she has. Did you guys get The Golden Girls down there? I can hear Sophia's words in my head: "Jealousy is a very ugly thing, Dorothy... and so are you in anything backless." :lol-2:
 
This is somewhat mundane for a thread of this title, but it is honestly what I am always looking for and have been for going on 4 years now...

I want an antique, 18k gold wedding band, engraved, ~3mm width, in a size 10.5. It is that last part that is holding me up, along with wanting 18k. Maybe someday I will find it!

@Dreamer_D they are so hard to find in all sizes, I also want one in 5.75. I saw plenty in white gold and platinum, none in yellow, at least not for an arm and a leg.

I have dreams of a big cats eye chrysoberyl ring some days, other days I hear the call of a large blue zircon ring but I’m always looking at opals though I have no need.
 
I’m haunted by the strand of antique opal beads I spotted as a teenager in an antique store. I begged my mother to buy it for herself ($100 usd).

She wouldn’t buy it.

It was the most beautiful piece of jewelry I have ever seen.
 
The center diamond in this ring of @Inked…has stirred a want bordering on obsession for me…a genuine old cut diamond, 2.5+ carats, O+ color with a unique flourescence (yellow, green, orange). Maybe this one will be for sale some day ;)

I have three. I’ll include photos because we all love to look at bling :lol:

#1: Antique Tiffany engraved plat over 18/22k gold Tiffany band, must have curved logo.

#2: A brooch or pendant that has tiny 2-6 Kashmir Sapphires… like .25ct stones so I can make a 5 stone with old mines or a 7 stone with sapphire.

It is from Sri Lanka.
It makes “smaller’ ring look so modest. Mine is 15 ct, from Burma.

Yes 15ct is still huge!

I feel like there is a PSer with a 30+ carat but it’s a little flatter and wider so maybe easier to wear. It’s pretty spectacular.
 
Welp. I just found a white whale I wasn't even looking for. I put it on layaway to secure it and try to savor the thrill of the find, lol. Will do a thread when it arrives.

It's a vivid yellow unheated sapphire (the largest for me by far), a color that never occurred to me to want. But I couldn't get it out of my mind and knew I would be sick if someone nabbed it. So even though I haven't recovered from wedding planning financially, I had to pull the trigger.

I didn't mean to bully you into spilling the beans (well, maybe I did), but yay!! I'm a big yellow sapphire enthusiast, so I'm especially excited to see this recent acquisition!! :mrgreen2:

Lol, obviously I was dying to say something even though I told myself not to. Just so excited. It is 9.35 CT per the asian gem report. It also has a GIA report as the finished ring which states it's unheated. I bought it online so pictures and videos.Screenshot_20251026-153554.png
