What's With Gemarts Website?

When I try to go on this website I get a warning that it's an Attack Site & might harm my computer, access not allowed. Google says they found malicious software passed on by the site last on 10/29. Explained it could be someone who altered the site's code to distribute malware. Anyone else encountered the same?

Wow, I just tried them with the same result!
I was looking for some small spinel.....
Weird!

I noticed that too and emailed Jerry yesterday, and he said that his web guy is working on it and it should be fixed any second.

This is the second time I have seen one of these on a site that I tried to go to. The other was a forum, which shall remain nameless (not gem related, don't worry). The scary part is that I haven't seen this warning for years, but now it's twice within a month. :o

Apparently there are web crawlers that submit viruses instead of comments/emails into forums. Those annoying little curvy letters that you see and have to re-type before submitting something?-- that's how some web masters deal with the crawlers. The crawlers can't read the curvy letters.

So something is definitely up on the web, I hope that our beloved PS is taking precautions. . .

Anyone know what that malware is, or does, or what it may have done to the computers of those who visited the site?

I ran MacScan on my computer and found no malware and only 17 tracking cookies mostly from ads from the likes of cnn. I was scared because I had gone to gemarts and had the same scary message. First thing I did was force quitted my browser. Seeing this threadtoday I got scared to look at any gem sites and wondered if the malicious-ware could follow us into here...

Hi All,

I have come across this several times on stock boards, the yahoo stock board specifically. I thought, at the time they were trying to track your info, hoping to gain access to financial records. I stopped going there for a while, but have gone back, with no repeat of warnings and shutting down of my computer.

Thanks for the warning.
Annette

It will probably be ok tomorrow. It's mean, mean to do that to a nice guy like that!

I wanted to let everyone know that Jerry's site is back up, and working fine. :wavey:

He recently sent me an email about a huge green sapphire he cut for blazengems. The sapphire is from the Eldorado Bar Mine in Montana. It's 9.25 mm square and 4.61 carats, so it's a whopper for a sapphire. Blazen gems has priced it accordingly, over $9,000! Thought you all would like to see Jerry's pic (hairy knuckles and all  )

The sapphire is here: http://blazengems.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=258

WOW    :o :o :o

That's all.

Mamma mia! Bellissimo. Glad his site's fixed too. You can never have too many places to look at gems.

That's the same exact cut he used on my mint Afghan tourmaline (4.5 cts).

TL,
That was exactly my first thought too - it's the same cut as your mint tourmaline!
