What''s the most useless waste-of-time thing you''ve done recently?

I spent an hour looking for a suitable picture of bluebells to use as a desktop background once. I kid you not. AN HOUR.

I LOVE popping bubble wrap... I'll leave it at that.

ETA: Musey, what are bluebells?

They are beautiful! Which picture did you end up with?

This one (though in a much bigger size, of course) - love it!

Mere, have you ever taken bubblewrap on a plane?

I actually saw a parent hand a sheet to a kid on a plane once. Smart parent

Reading on-line debates about the lyrics to Eminem''s new album. It''s quite the controversy.

The weekly meetings one of my advisors insist that we all have even when there are NO updates on any of the projects!

My long story:

The ramp to get on the highway going west is literally .2 miles away from my job. To get on though, you either stay in the outside right lane that when you make a right takes you directly there (but you have to wait for the light to do that) or you can get in the inside right lane and not wait for the light. The problem with the inside right lane is that it leads directly into the east ramp and you have to go across 4 lanes in order to go to the west ramp. Sometimes you can do it, sometimes you can''t.

Anyway, I jumped on the inside right lane but couldn''t make it all the way over. So I thought, ok I''ll just go straight and make a u-turn. But I forgot going straight lands you in a dead end where you have to either go right or left and no u-turns allowed. So I made a right. I drove for 15 miles before finding a place to make a u-turn (this is a road right behind the Miami airport so no u-turns allowed). When I did, traffic was backed up so I waited in a line for 50 minutes just to be able to get back on the highway.

Every since then I''ve always sat in the oustide right lane and just waited for the light.

LOL! Good lord no! I prefer to ride on the inside of planes, not the wings where all the other passengers would exile me to!!

Neat, do we work for the same company? My company lives by the motto, "Those who don''t Do, have meetings."

I''ve had 6, yes 6, since yesterday morning.

Holy cow, I have a lot of meetings too.... though my count since yesterday is only at 4... but they were each a minimum of 2 hours in length... so does that count?

I browse baby stuff. I am not pregnant. And I did it for, oh, THREE HOURS the other day. I even started building a collage until I realized how stupid it was and stopped.

I spent an hour on a conference call where all the other people talked. It had nothing to do with my position. And it was boring...

The childbirth class we''re taking. It''s 3 sessions and they are 3 hours each. I''ve had 2 so far, and I''ve learned maybe a half hour''s worth of useful info. that I didn''t already know.

Spent hours online searching for Craftsman style cutom home pictures. My brother is building and wanted pics for his architect.
But, oh, after I spent all that time, he says, well, I meant kinda Craftsman, but more Traditional.

Uhh, I went all the way to Ohio for 3 days to sit around, work on my computer, and have people bring me production data sheets that they could've faxed me. Gotta love my boss

Oh, and the flight ended up costing $900 to fly from NYC to Cleveland because it was so last minute. So much for saving money in the bad economy. It's embarrassing when the people in the plant come up to me and say "Why are you here? You don't need to be here at all; this is a waste of your time" The only thing I can tell them is "My boss said I had to come, so here I am."

But for things I've actually decided to do, I can't think of anything other than PS that could be considered a "waste of time". Though I certainly don't consider it a waste of time!

Just had to sit wait on the phone for 40 mins to talk to someone about getting a refund on my cc. Big pain in the a%*.

every day. ding dangit!

Spent 20 minutes last night (to me, that is a huge amount of time to lose, from my busy day) to read through the "Bachelorette thread", when I could have spent that time with my father (who literally has days, maybe hours of time left himself).

What a waste!

Wow, I''d love to have time to reply to this thread, but another conference call just popped up on my calendar, for right now.

Yes, Tlh, your 2 hour calls count. Holy Sh*t!! Mine aren''t more than an hour and a hlaf, but on Tuesday I had one rescheduled for 12:30!! Right as I was leaving for lunch.

Spent four hours digging out a garden, removing all signs of life, rocks, debris, rusty nails, bottle caps... grinding soil with my hands, planting, watering, compost, edging... Then we had a four day rain storm where my new garden lay underwater and it either washed away or it rotted because nothing has come up.

I went camping this weekend. I don''t understand the concept of camping. Pack up my stuff, only to drag it out into the wilderness, unpack it, and then sit in the dirt? This is a VERY big waste of my time, as far as I''m concerned. BUT, it did make FI and littlest son happy, so all was not lost.

::::Dreaming of the day when littlest son is old enough to go camping with daddy on his own:::: ::::wistful sigh::::

WORRY!!

Most times it''s so not worth it...

I''m sorry to hear about your father, Beau.
