I am hoping I will have better luck on this forum. I posted pictures of my ring on Rocky talk but didn''t get any bites. Hopefully some of you will jump in.

I lost my wedding ring a few months ago and am thinking about having it remade. This time I am having it made in white gold with a higher setting/larger stone for the center diamond. Would you guys recommend staying with an emerald cut? Or should I consider getting a completely different shape of stone? What type of prongs would you use? I would like a higher setting because on the old setting the emerald cut disappeared into the ring. I would like something to stand out a bit.

If this were your ring, what would you do to it? What changes would you make? I am so impressed with the different rings that I have seen on this site. I would love it if someone suggested something I haven''t thought of.

Thanks in advance!

I think your ring is very pretty!! I''d stay with the emerald cut, it is a nice counterpoint to the sidestones. And here on Pricescope, bigger is usually better.

I too, did not like how my original wedding set hid my center emerald. We just did a complete re-set into 19kt white gold, but I kept my original stones... small by PSer's standards at .54, but I love how it totally stands out now. My thread is here with pics of the old set and the new one... https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/its-done-and-its-perfect-ec-reset.103221/

I like your ring too the way it is. A larger stone will help with it NOT getting lost in all the metal/pave diamonds. Also, you might think
about making the pronts that come up and hold the stone thinner. Since the prongs are sort of part of the design of the ring I''m not
sure if this is possible. Also you could think about having the prong lines come up under the stone and hold the other corner of the
stone (what I''m trying to describe is basically like a trellis setting). That may make your stone set up higher. I''ll keep looking at it to
see if I can think of any other possible changes that you could consider.

As an example of how much an EC can pop, have you seen KittyBean''s beauty???

It is about halfway down this page.

Thanks for the input! I knew you guys would have great ideas!

CDNTech- what a gorgeous ring! Elegant! Gorgeous! It is amazing how the diamond was lost on your old setting and how it pops in the new! It makes it look like you increased the size of your diamond.

The prongs that I have on my old ring were actually replacement prongs. These were replacements when one was bent. I do think that it would help if I pushed the diamond higher. I wish I could see more before and afters of other people''s rings. Maybe there is a posting here of people''s before and afters? If there isn''t, there should be!!
