I've had my alarm ring every hour since midnight so that I could get up and make sure I didn't miss the posts! I'm so tired! :errrr:

Haha! Now that's dedication! Looks like things are starting to pick up. BTW, cute doggie! What kind?

The picture is of one my babies. My oldest :) She's a liver and white springer spaniel. Here's a little close up :)

ETA: I also meant to ask who's the baby in your picture? SUCH A CUTIE!

Awww~ How many dogs do you have? That's lucy in my avi. She's a beagle mix from GA. We're in CT. We had her brought up from a shelter through a local rescue. I also have a greyhound. And, two cats from Brooklyn.

That is funny! I almost set my alarm for 6:00 but wasn't sure, with the time zones, if the numbers would have gone up by that much by then, so I climbed out of bed at 7:30 and came right down and got on my lap top. My husband watched me with curious eyes and asked what I was doing. He is being a bit too supportive of me right now (probably hoping I'll win so he's off the hook for my bday present - lol!).

We have two dogs. They are both springers. But they are totally different looking. My older one, Olivia, has long, wavy hair with the droopy ears. My youngest, Emma, can't really grow her hair out, and when it does, its straight, and she has spots all over her legs. Older one is show and the younger is field.

That is pretty amazing that you rescued all those animals. DH and I were talking about fostering springer spaniels that need homes.

So did you used to live in Brooklyn or did you rescue the cats from a Brooklyn shelter like Lucy?

I was wondering what time it was in Perth!
That's how I felt last night when I decided to stay up! And when I woke up every hour and the posts had only increased by 10 each time, I thought I was going to lose my mind! At least, this is happening on a weekend.

One summer, I was looking to adopt a siamese cat, so found my way onto the pets section of CL in NYC! Not a good place to be!!! Anyway, a lady posted about having two cats that she needed to bring to a vet to have euthanized. She had tried, but could not find a home for them. The potential for adoption for two older kitties in a NYC shelter is very very low, especially during kitten season, so she thought it would be best to have them put down instead of sitting in cages for the required 2 weeks and then being euthanized by the shelter. Enter LV! I told her that there were sanctuaries in CT, and I was sure I could find one that would take her two kitties. I was wrong. They require big donations, and I'm not sure some of them are more than cat lady kind of people with a house full of cats, kwim? Anyway, I told her that I would take them. Sight unseen. Didn't actually see them until I got to CT, at a rest stop, when one of them tried to jump the box. Never met the lady either. They were living in her friends' bathroom. They brought them down in two boxes (the cat carrier kind, but cardboard), said thanks, and we were on our way. Oh, the woman was going through a bad divorce, had a child, was moving cross country to live with her mom for a few weeks in an over 65 that did not allow pets, so I don't blame her at all. Oh, and I also hooked up with a rescue group, picked up a siamese from them in Park Slope (nice!) that was straight from the shelter, and my then-dogwalker's friend adopted her. :saint:

I think we need a pic of Olivia too. :)) Do they like to hang out together?

Yep - DH has to work at 7 am even though it's Sunday - he's snoozing away next to me.

That's amazing LV! You really went out of your way to get these cats a home! Not a lot of people would go through the extra trouble and it warms my heart to hear there are people out there that care for animals as much as I do.

Olivia is the one in my AV and the closeup picture. I will post a picture of Emma. She was the runt of the litter and nobody wanted her. She was so much skinnier and smaller than all her litter mates. Even to this day, she looks like a puppy and she's 5.

We are totally threadjacking. But in the spirit of trying to conjure up more posts, it should be ok right?

No no, you are not losing your abilities! You convinced DH to let me get it! I am the one that's slacking!

And if all else fails, I heard of a home for enablers. It's in Connecticut, on 10 acres of beautiful lush green land next to a lake. You can retire there.

I hope someone who *needs* it wins today :) It won't be me since I'll probably be out running errands-although I wish it would be :)

Look at you all adopting wonderful animals and fostering pets that need homes. My DH would kill me if I brought an animal home. We have lots of wild cats (included some that lived under our shed this spring) so I can't endanger my current kitty by bringing in a stray that probably wants to live outside anyways.

But someday we'll adopt another cat-but we're a one cat house hold. Good luck everyone!
