What will it take for you to emerge from your home?

If the government says I can go to a restaurant, I will go to a restaurant.

I trust them so far.

I sent my kid to school until they told us to keep him home. I went to restaurants until they shut them down.

It's not that I am blindly following the government but I think our government is doing ok. They are screaming at us to stay home now, every day there is someone nagging at us to stay home and stay away from other people so if they tell us we can go to restaurants and see my sister I will believe them.

Mello, would you remind me where you are again? Surely not the US, LOL. Our "government" can't be trusted to tell day from night at this point...

ETA: Missy and you were posting at the same time I was. Now I see: Australia.

Australia

Yes I would trust your government over the USA's government any day. Of course I would evaluate it based on one's individual risks etc but I can totally understand your reasoning.

Yes in fact if Trump says it is night you can be sure it is day. :knockout:

hehe you know me! Might as well be dead than locked up for two years (I would not do well in jail)! So as soon as it is legit for me to emerge, I will emerge!

On a more serious note, can you guys track how many people are sick in your area etc?

We have maps and stuff like this:

As gung ho as I am I'd steer clear of certain suburbs for a while (like the festy people in Bondi)!

Yes same here. I am a creature who needs to be outside but so far I am being good. We still have to go food shopping and occasional walks outside. Doing the best we can.

I'm not a huge fan of our governor because in the beginning he broke a major campaign promise (tolls) then with the shutdown of our state I felt he was too wishy washy. There seemed to be so many workers and businesses deemed essential that it was a running joke in our state.

However I do appreciate how he has teamed up with governors of surrounding states to try to find a way to get things up and moving again. Can't imagine being in his position during this crisis. I would trust his judgement before the federal government for sure.

Ahh so you can avoid the festy suburbs!

Funnily enough a lot of the festy suburbs in Sydney are the wealthy ones! One area has 93 people with Covid19 in it! We have 3 (according to another tracker)!!!

Sadly disparities according to economic status.
As an example.

I try to get out for a walk every day - in fact just got back from a pleasant two mile walk.

Yesterday was miserable weather so I didn't get out - but I did participate in a drive-by birthday celebration. Almost all of us got out of the car and gave our friend gifts. I advised her to let them sit in her garage for a couple of days but I know she didn't because we got thank you texts already. The one friend who didn't get out of her car has a son who is recovering from COVID. He did not need to be hospitalized. She has been fine so far but is paranoid for herself and one daughter. The other daughter is believed to be the carrier. She was the only one going out on a regular basis to her job at a home improvement warehouse store. She had a cold with sniffles before her brother came down with a terrible fever and cough. He tested positive; she was not tested.

I still go to the supermarket, but not as frequently. A big shop lasts two weeks. I made masks a while ago and started wearing them in public places (not walks) before the recommendation. I actually am surprised that people are not leaving their home at all. Is that self-restriction or government mandated? We are allowed to get out for exercise here in Maine.

I'll physically go back to work when they open our schools.

Most of our wealthy areas are pretty festy!

And the testing is fair so it's not like they are getting more tests! They are much more festy though!

It lines up with everyday life too. I am part of a Facebook mother's group for the rich suburbs (even though I live in a poor area nowhere near). OMG the diseases that go around! Hand foot and mouth, gastro x 10000000, warts, worms etc

I was horrified thinking this is what goes on in schools until I sent my kid to school and to my delight we didn't have any of that!

I'm ready. I think it's going to be around for a very long time and we can't stay in our houses forever lest we starve.

I think I am a bit like you.

Sure it could take me out but I ain't hiding forever!

I suspect I will reach a point where I would rather be taken out by Covid19 than stay home forever!

We go out to stores with a mask, when we need too. When the restrictions are lifted we will go to AZ to visit the grandkids. They were supposed to come her this week. We had some issues with our 5th wheel and it has been at the dealer for a couple months. I am anxious to go places again.
I will take precautions but I am not particularly worried.
I have stayed in the house during quarantine. Mostly, DH has done the shopping. Last evening we went out to a restaurant to pick up food after ordering online. I think that was the first time I had been out of the house in two weeks.

I need to go out this week and get an allergy shot.
I am so ready for this to be over, but I want it to be safe for people with underlying conditions.
