Mine was a small cheese pizza all to myself! God it tasted like heaven after not eating for 36 hours. We ordered in to the hospital and it was awesome!

Hospital breakfast. I just ate hospital food during my stay. I didn''t think it was bad at all.

A blueberry muffin, strawberries, and herbal tea. My middies made it for me and told me to eat it before they''d let me get in the shower, because they didn''t want to risk me passing out. It was just heavenly.

Ya know...I have no idea! My hospital had a room service menu and I know I ordered something off of that as soon as they would let me. But I don''t remember what it was!

A liquid diet after my c-section. No fun at all. And then I think 3 days later, I got some sort of goop that they said was oatmeal...yuck

A turkey wrap and chips from Jason''s Deli. I had to wait 2 hours b/f I was allowed to get up but was given the okay to eat. Hubby went and got it and brought it to me. it was sooooo yummy.

Why did they make you have a liquid diet? They let me eat as soon as I felt well enough to after my c-section.

After my c I was on liquids too. I think because I lost so much blood but I''m not sure how liquids as opposed to food would help. I got to eat the next day. My friend snuck me in a Hershey''s bar first, then I ate some crap the hospital had.

Hot dog and fries. It was so COLD by the time I finally got into my room.

I''ve never been pregnant so I can''t speak from experience, but a friend had a great first meal after having her son. I guess the hospital has a certain menu that lets you (and husband/SO) order a special meal. My friend and her husband had steak, potatoes, and a caesar salad, and they said it tasted like it came from a restaurant rather than the hospital cafeteria.

hospital clear liquids

Our hospital has great food. After Trapper, b/c of the C section, I had liquid diet for my lunch. but after that, I ate whatever I was hungry for. They pamper the moms there tho, so I''d put notes on the menu and ask for special stuff they weren''t serving that day. I had a lot of chocolate shakes.

Surf and turf!! The hospital made a big deal of it. Have to say it was yummy. Because I had a C section, I hadn''t eaten for days, was in labor 48 hours prior. I was starving, so enjoyed every bite!!!

Had lots of complications....lost a lot of blood and I was borderline on getting a blood transfusion.

After my c/s, it was 7 up. . .then eventually jello.

I haven''t had kids, but I work for a food service company that provides retail and patient food in healthcare facilities. Providing a "room service" type menu with restaurant quality food is a BIG thing we market and are constantly using as a selling point for new business and as upgrades to existing business. It works so much better than your typical patient menu (bfast, lunch, dinner) that is prepared at set intervals during the day, because as you all well know, babies don''t come on schedules! Providing a room service type set up lets them prepare the food to order, which means what you get is fresh and much better quality.

well before the c section ice chips were like steak and lobster to me! i was almost making deals with the nurse to "hook me up" with some more chips! i even promised myself thats the only thing id ever eat...they were THAT good!

after the C ---it was clear liquids as well...but for me it was MCEEDEES

Our hospital had a celebration meal for mommy and daddy after the birth.
I can''t remember what it was. It wasn''t bad, but I just wasn''t in the mood to eat at the time.
But when we went home the next day, hubby went out to get me some sushi

liquid diet because of the complications/c-section (they said I would not be able to hold anything down, and sure enough, the bowl of broth came right back up! I was fine after that though). The mag sulfate is wicked when it comes to nausea.

Our friend brought us Mc Donald''s breakfast. I would''ve been happy with the hospital breakfast, but DH wanted Mickey D''s since our friend offered to pick some up on their way to see us. The hospital room service/food wasn''t too shabby for the rest of the stay. On our way home from the hospital, we got Quizno''s and it was DELISH!

NYC, I loved our ice chips too! Chewy and wonderful ice!

How odd - even though I was in ICU and had two transfusions I could eat what I wanted... not that I really wanted anything other than ice!

I ordered sandwiches from the hospital menu as I was too hooked up to tubes and monitors to be able to eat a proper meal - but before I got a chance to eat them DH turned up with a mega takeout of sushi and sashimi plus a Mars Icecream bar! I love my husband!

Cute question !

My family runs a deli-style restaurant and it''s 3 mins down the road from the hospital where i delivered. The staff were on pins and needles waiting for word that the baby was born and then they sent over this special fresh lime drink, a corned beef sandwich on rye with pickles and a big salad (all stuff i couldn''t get enough of while i was pregnant) and it never tasted as good as it did after the hardest day of my life.

I don't know...it was 5 years ago, so maybe things have changed, but I thought it was standard practice to have women who had c-sections to have a liquid diet for a few days until the digestive system was back to working properly. Sounds like most here that did have c-sections were given a liquid diet except Neatfreak and yourself, so maybe they have changed that recently? I guess I will see what happens with my c-section this time around.

Ah ha. Did a little research, and found lots of articles stating that doctors used to believe women with c-sections shouldn''t eat solid food for a few days due to bowel functions, but that studies have proven that this thinking was incorrect and now women that have c-sections have no reason to delay eating solid foods. Yea! That''s good news! http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0CYD/is_17_36/ai_78541995/

That makes sense. My doctor was very on top of recent research (which is why I loved him so much considering that I am in health research myself) so that would explain why he didn''t make me wait but maybe more uninformed/more old fashioned doctors would make people wait.

I was ravenous by the time they let me eat-I can''t imagine waiting any longer!

for my first birth it was a ham and cheese hero (I was starving), my 2nd one was whatever the hospital sent up (it was dinner and don''t remember)...the last birth was only 8mo ago so I remember..I had my son at 6:48am and sent my husband to find the nearest diner. I wanted egg white-ham omelette with home fries and a LARGE orange juice...I was starving again

Yeah, it was no fun at all. I am pretty sure I was grumpy after a few days of no food!

HI:

Ah, that makes sense!

I didn''t have a c-section - just an emergency forceps delivery in theatre followed by a massive haemorrhage. They weren''t too pleased as I''m AB+ and needed 5 units which was practically the whole supply in the bloodbank...

I thought it might have been more because of that that they wouldn''t let you have solid food rather than the c-section (didn''t get that one as it''s not your stomach that they are chopping up!

I was on a liquid diet after my c-section also. I couldn''t eat real food until a farted

. When I finally did, the nurse forgot to change the restrictions with the food service people, and after waiting for hours and my meal never came becasue they "forgot" me, I finally got a PB&J sandwich at 10pm. That was after 3 days of liquids only. After that the food was actually pretty good, they had a menu you could order from with a decent selection. I didn''t really feel hungry until I got home a few days later.
