What to do with my 4.75ctw Eternity Band?!

My hubby got me a beautiful 4.75ct eternity ring for the birth of our first child. Now here is my problem. It is in a yellow gold setting- and while I don't mind the color (YG) I just hate the actual setting. It seems very heavy and blah to me, there is no flow to it. I wear it and like it but I don't love it. So I"m not sure what I should do. I would love to hear your opinions.

Specs:
4.75 cts
17 round diamonds
H-I color VS clarity prong set in 18k yg- will probably change this to wg down the road
4mm wide

1-After searching through pricescope I found a gorgeous setting that I would love to have done- the trellis setting. I could save up and just completely redo the ring.
Pro- I would love the new settings. Con- the diamonds are a very warm color to my eye so I'm not sure if white gold would look as good as yellow gold- so should I do the trellis setting in YG?

2- In this economy perhaps I should just have the money and have the ring dipped but I have no idea how that process works. And it seems like a bad idea to cover up that much 18k gold.

If you think you would enjoy it more, get it dipped now and save up for a new setting. I don't think dipping costs very much.

Love the trellis setting!

H/I color diamonds look whiter in white gold settings; you might notice their warmer color if you stack them with higher color diamonds.
Do you plan wearing your eternity band alone?
I'm asking you because I think the trellis setting is beautiful but it isn't safe for diamond's girdle.

How about rose gold? I just reset my 5 stone in a BGD rose gold trellis and I love it!!!!!

Looking at your current setting, it very secure but not that delicate. Boo!

If you got the trellis in yellow gold, it would definitely look better than your current setting. If you got it in rose gold, that would be gorgeous (all the benefits of yellow gold for the color enhancement of the H-I diamonds, but more distinctive).

If you got it in white gold, I'd be worried about continually re-dipping because there's a lot of metal exposed in the crevices of the trellis -- might as well save and wait and spring for it in PT if going for WG, IMO, since most of the cost of the new band will be in labor, not in the metal itself (there isn't much metal).

Post pix when you get it!

I love it as it is, except I would dip it. Mine is 4.85, diamonds are F color, and I dipped it. Still looks great and it will be two years in December. I wear it every day. Mine style is quite similar to yours. I really love the Sherman Tank style of it, because each stone is well protected, and I don't have time to baby a ring.

Did you pick out the ring or provide input as to what kind of ring you're wanting? If it was a complete surprise, (personally) I wouldn't swap it out for another ring b/c it may offend your DH. Maybe yours wouldn't mind...just a thought.

Dipping it sounds like a good middle-ground.

I'd keep it for now and dip it :)

then see what you think!

Hi. I just recently dipped my 3.65 carat eternity band in white gold. Cost about $30 and looks fab. It was yellow but recently I have been wearing a lot more weight. Will keep you posted how it holds up. If it doesn't agree with you dipping is completely reversable.

Can you post a picture of your ring? I'd love to see it. I'm partial to rose gold.

Yes I plan on wearing it alone on my right hand. Though I will admit I'm not a very careful person and I have chipped a few diamonds in my life, so I was worried about the trellis.

Due to the reasonable cost of dipping it, dip it...if you still hate the setting, you can always change it to white gold or platinum down the road.
