What to do with .25ct diamond?

Hi Everyone. I''m looking for some ideas/advice. I have a .25ct round brilliant diamond which is now set in a gold four prong ring. It''s soldered to a plain gold wedding band. I had this done several years ago and I also had the ring(s) sized to a size I will never wear again. So...I haven''t worn the rings in years and I now have a new wedding set. I want to do something with this diamond, but I don''t want to keep it in the same ring, because it reminds me of some rough times early on in our marriage, if that makes any sense. So, any suggestions?

How about something like this:

This (Jenifer's) is one carat total, so yours will be larger... and perhaps the flower will need more petals (say, 10 points each or so).

There's a lovely open halo (with space between the center bezel set stone and the rim) among the new small pieces by Boucheron... and a certain ring design at Fay's makes me think intensely of an even nicer pendant. Here it is.
The larger diamond in the ring is a 20 point old cut - smaller than yours.

I think the halo style would look awesome, or something bezel set perhaps!!! Make sure you post pictures of it when you get it back!!! Also what would be neat is if the halo had colored gemstones to contrast with the diamond in the center?? Just a thought.

I have a bezel set diamond pendant in white gold on a 16" chain that I wear every day. I think it''s 1/3 carat. It''s simple & versatile & I love it.

That halo mounting is gorgeous!

Something like the one ana posted except diamond in the center and ruby or sapphire or garnet around the outside.

kmom, I went to the jeweler Friday with the ring and also with my newer ring with the loose prongs. They''re not taking any new jobs until they finish all their Mother''s Day jobs, so I''m going back on Friday. They showed me some really nice bezel styles so I think I''m going to go that route, with a permanent chain. I''m thinking it will be nice to enjoy it for a few years and then give it to my daughter when she graduates from high school.
