What style/decade would you say this ring is?

I was given my grandmother's 3 stone diamond ring a couple of years ago. I was recently given the ring guard that went with it. I have no idea if the ring and guard were handed down to her or if they were purchased.

Any idea on what style you would call it? what decade it was designed?

Any help appreciated.

(The 3 stone was restored, but I haven't taken the guard in yet and it is missing a stone.)

Thanks

Can you make out the type of rounds that are set in the 3 stone? The photo makes it difficult to tell if they’re OEC’s, Transitional or Modern. During what time period would she have worn it? That may give us a clue on the time/Era.

Can you please photograph the pieces separately, and include closeups of the profile and inside of the rings?
Its hard to tell much from your photo.

I just took it in for restoration. The stones are round brilliant.

I was able to find out some background about the ring: it was custom made (both the 3 stone and the guard) by my grandfather through an independent jeweler in Ohio in the early 80s. So that clears up some of my questions...

However, I wish my grandmother was here so that I could ask her how she and my grandfather decided on this style. What were her influences and what period/decade was she influenced by.

So I guess now I’d love for the community to chime in with what style they think this ring conveys...

The style looks 60's - 70's to me, although I think diamonds that large were the exception rather than the rule at that time.

Personally I think the 3-stone ring has wonderful presence, and I love the way the wrap adds additional, and very stylish, glitz. I hope you'll find many occasions to wear both!

I think the 3 stone is a very classic look. When you add the ring guard the ring takes on a vintage vibe. Perhaps your grandparents wanted to get two looks out of this one purchase? It’s lovely and I hope you are enjoying it. :D
