What would be the best (best combination of appearance and price) value specifications for diamonds for a tennis bracelet?

I assume there would be about 40 to 45 stones in 0.1 to 0.2 carat range depending upon the total weight of the bracelet.

Does cut really make a difference for stones this small? I was thinking H,I color in a SI1 to SI2 would probably be a "sweet spot" How much is the stuff per carat?

Would it make a difference if they were round versus princess cut? Setting would be white gold.

Thanks

Should I take for the lack of responses that tennis bracelets are not in fashion right now? What is in fashion?

Nope, they have always been a classic dating back to the first part of the century.

Cut does matter. It matters in that the diamonds should be cut to American RB standards. That would be enough for me.

Generally, the smaller the stone - the less color will show. I have a yellow gold tennis bracelet w/ each stones approx. .25 (about 30 stones total). The original receipt stated g/h. But, the person I bought it from (second hand) thought the stones to be closer to j/k/l. They are plenty white looking set in yellow gold. Though, I'm not sure that would be the case placed in white gold.

As for size, it's personal taste. While the overall quality will affect the price, the individual size of each stone generally affects the price the most. TCW is very deceptive. That's why Zales can sell a 3carat TCW diamond bracelet for 599.99.

One has to decide what looks best on the wrist. 1 row of .10. 1 row of .20. Or 2 rows of .10. And to add to the mix, alternating colored stones (i.e. sapphires, rubies, etc) between diamonds.

As far as princess cut stones in a tennis bracelet - I'm a round brilliant fan. So, again personal preference.

NOT IN FASHION?! Diamonds can be worn on your nose, who cares, Diamonds are Forever...that said, tennis bracelets tend to come already made, and few people seem to have the petience or connections to get that many matched stones them selves to make one.

Most stores use H-I, SI1or SI2 stones anyway, so it may just be cheaper to get it already made. If you are a perfectionist, then I suggest the melee from Whiteflash in round (ACA's) or signature princess stones for a TRULY lovely wrist wrapper! Try calling them to see how it will price out and if they can do that for you. If not, you can always try Price Scope vendors who have them already made, or even Ice.com, Blue Nile, Mondera, Etc... Good luck and POST PICS!!!

Thanks,

That's what I was thinking of doing. There seems to be such a wide range in price for seemingly the same specifications in premade bracelets.

Forgive the fashion ignorant questions again, but are tennis bracelets casual enough for everyday wear?

Something else I'm considering is leverback earrings in the style I saw on a post a while ago. Are leverbacks considered more formal than studs? (I won't get into the size of studs discussion!)

Well there are two sides to the debate of everyday tennis bracelets. Depends on SO many things:

1) Are you thin, tall, or heavier and shorter
2) How big are the points on this bracelet?
3) What do you normally wear everyday?
4) What do you do for a living?
5) Are you Carmella from the Sopranos?
6) How old are you?
7) Are you COMFORTABLE wearing them?

Those things are important to you, and frankly, I live in NYC/NJ and my town is especially Bling Bling. But I wouldn't wear it everyday, unless it was like .5 pointers or less, and maybe not even then. I am too young to rock an everyday tennis bracelet, and I type all day and move around, so it would get uncomfy.

Doctors and people who work with their hands alot (Housewives, cleaners, lab technicians, elementary school teachers) may not want to, but even if they do it's totally personal preference and as I say, your environment if it supports bling, then BLING AWAY!!!

When I am older, I will bling it. I can't wear bracelets but bigger rings and earrings...Mmmmmm...

Those stud earrings seem to be UNIVERSAL! Aytime, anywhere... not so the leverbacks. Among studs, size and color as well as design details draw the line between casual and formal - I would think. A nice set bracelet & studs with ideal cuts sounds tempting
