the songs that were playing on the radio when you were necking with your BF(s)...

When I was what? :o

I was the Madonna generation and proud of it, although I do think she's become a different person. Success changes some people. It doesn't change others. It seems to have gone to her head. I didn't like that she made a movie about Wallis Simpson where a character chastises another about how Wallis and Edward were "naive" but not Nazi sympathizers. Not Nazi sympathizers my ***. I don't like the fact that she's let her brother live under a bridge for 18 months without even talking to him. IMO the man has problems. People don't choose to live under bridges for 18 months so that they can give a lousy media interview to the Daily Mail. And she could take care of it as easy as ordering her breakfast from a servant in the morning. Yes, I know most PS's don't agree with me, but I am not changing my mind. They're blood. They're family. He's living like a stray dog in Michigan in winter. I'm sorry but I've been a Madonna fan since 1983 and I've followed everything she's ever done and said. She spoke out eloquently about the spirit dying when freedom of expression is denied and people are forced to live a "fascistic" life, in Italy, speaking to the Vatican, no less! She is a great talent. She is the greatest at what she does. But she used to be a nice person and now she's a self-centered, greedy, fascist apologist. No, that's wrong!

She is coming out with a new album though, and one track has been "leaked" (I highly doubt it). I listened to it and it was like a cheerleaders' chant, "M, A, D, O, N, N, A, Madonna!" and at first I thought how strange! Then I thought about the fact that she used to be a cheerleader in high school and how she played a "prom queen" in her American Pie video from the American Life album, and then I thought, hmm... I'll wait to pass judgment. She has never disappointed before. This is the longest time since '83 for her without releasing an album. The previous record for her was 3+ years in the '90's and then she released Ray of Light and it was a smashing success. I can't wait to see the video for this.

But I think I'm too young for those adult subjects, DF, and I don't remember nothing like that! :cheeky:

I loved a lot of different music a a teenager. I was very fond of Pink Floyd from an early and impressionable age, and loved TRex and a bit of Glam rock too.

However, the songs I loved best on the radio from about 12 onwards were by Duran Duran. I had so many posters, all the LPs (remember them?) and any magazine where they got so much as a mention.

My best friend ever, ever, ever in the whole wide world was right there with me. For my birthday last week, she got me tickets to see Duran Duran in Glasgow next month. Honestly, only a winning lottery ticket would have pleased me more and even then, not by very much. We're going to have the ultimate girly night out and relive our teenage dream. I cannot wait. Excited doesn't even begin to cover it.

My plan is that we'll have dinner at my parent's house, get ready in my bedroom with an illicit bottle of wine, then leave for the concert by climbing out of the bedroom window, onto the kitchen roof, down onto the garage roof and down the fence behind the garage. For old times sake. As in the old days, my parents will politely contrive not to notice.

ABBA: Dancing Queen

Gosh, too many to mention really.

Just off the top of my head, anything Hall and Oates, The Doobie Brothers, Chicago(I had Chicago V! Pretty cool, since I didn't own that many albums), The Cars, Alan Parsons, ELO. The list is pretty long, of songs that can slap me back to the mid-late 70's...

Im a bit younger, and the song that really made the summer after I graduated wasn Jimmy Eat Word- The Middle. It was on the radio incessantly, especially during my trip with my best friend and her family to myrtle beach for a week right after we graduated. It was on of the best weeks of my life, to date. It was also when Fi and I started getting kinda serious, though we didn't officially start dating til that Christmas. I still love that song, to this day, and it always makes me smile.

So many! Anything by Nirvana, Saves The Day, The Mr. T Experience, the Ataris, and assorted other pop punk bands.

We must be about the same age!

Elton John, Bee Gees, Carole King, "My Eyes Adored You" by Frankie Valli and the 4 seasons, "Whip It", anything on the Rocky Horror Picture Show album, "If you Leave me Now" by Chicago.... oh wow - bit of a time warp (hahaha - RHPS reference!) to go back to teen age music favourites. And of course... DISCO!!! KC and the Sunshine Band, Michael Jackson's Off the Wall was probably early 20's but some mighty fine tunes on that LP

I graduated high school in '92 and college in '96.
Here's what was apparently popular in '92: http://www.popculturemadness.com/Music/Pop-Modern/1992.html.. Nothing that great, in my opinion.

I'm drawing a blank on most of the music I listed to in HS, but I do remember listening to Red Hot Chili Pepper's Under the Bridge a lot.

In college, I listened to a LOT of Pearl Jam at parties. Black will always be my favorite PJ song. Oh, that and Glycerine by Bush -- loved that song! Dave Matthews, Counting Crows, Hootie and the Blowfish, and Alanis Morrissette, and Sarah McLachlan were also some of my favorites. There are too many specific songs to list but those are the singers I liked.

My first concert "on my own" was Avril Lavigne when my best friend and I were I think 17, and we drove an hour and a half away on our own to go. What an amazing night!!

KMFDM "Real Thing", Mindless Self Indulgence "Keepin' up with the Kids", Nine Inch Nails is tied with "Sin" and "Closer" I did not listen to the radio much when I was a teen so these are so of the songs that remind me of when I was 16 or so
