Hello,
I'm working with a local jeweler to design a custom engagement ring setting. I am not committed to buying the stone from the jeweler (princess cut) and have found what I think are a few great selections online.
The jeweler does have what looks like a very beautiful stone in his store that I took a look at and was wondering what else should I know about this stone, or ask for to determine if this is a great deal and as perfect of a cut as it appears. The jeweler told me that this is a perfectly square GIA stone and at a pretty good price.
Certified: GIA
Cut: Princess
Color: F
Carat: 1.71
Clarity: VS1
Price: 17k
I guess my question is this. If I don't buy a stone from an online vendor like Whiteflash that stocks triple 0 AGS stones, how do I really know how good this princess cut really is? What can I ask for from the jeweler to absolutely makes sure this stone is a perfectly cut stone. Can a jeweler readily provide a Sarin report and even if he could I'm not sure I could read this correctly to truly help me make an informed decision. I feel like buying a princess cut stone can be so difficult for someone like me: a novice, first time diamond buyer who is looking to make as good of a decision as possible. I really appreciate the time and look forward to any and all advice.
