ok, I am shopping for a cushion for engagement ring for a month, now narrow down my choice to 3 stones. They all have the same cutting style.
problem here, first 2 stones only have GIA cert and diamond images, they look pretty in pictures and well priced ($5.5K+)
The vendor can send them to a local independant appraiser and I go to review, I need pay for shipping fee(120 for 2 if I return both of them or 60 for 1) and appraisal fee.
I didn't contact the appraiser yet, so don't know how much the apprisal fee will be. also I need to drive 3 hours to appraiser's offer. I would be upset if none of them is satisfied me.
The third stone has full documents include aset image, diamond image... lovely, but seems some light leakage under the table and edge too. a little larger size and higher color, price is $6.7K.
(1.2K higher than first 2). Although my budget is $5.5K, the $6.7K is still fine for me. I don't know if the extra 1K is truly worth.
Questions: 1. The appraisal fee depends on what I want to have done of the stones, so what service do I need to request from appraiser, and how much usually cost?
2. Diamond 3 is good enough? Do you think light leakage is too much?
what should I do? I do need you guys suggestions. Please review the 3 stones by those links. many thanks!
