There seems to be some trade-of between spread and brilliance, and then - comparing size between different shapes is not very intuitive.
IMO, the long shapes look the largest (marquize, pear, rectangular somethins). Rounds and squares have the potential to be the brightest, and among them rounds win for spread.
Why is another story. Would you care for a copy of Gem Adviser or at least Gem Cad? In a couple of weeks some of the details may become clear. I didn't run that extra mile myself
You may want to inspect Ideal-Scope.com (the page on gancies) for a couple of hints though...
Of all the common shapes I''d say the marquise maximizes visual size for a given weight while providing the potential for a lot of light performance. No doubt, you can trade off with other shapes for different balance between light and size in order to allow you to find the diamond you prefer. A super marquise has a very good look.
