Well different shapes are going to just flat out appear bigger (aka marquis or a pear), but as to catching the best light or ''returning'' the most light, probably a round is the best bet there.

If you like different shapes like the fancies, but want great light return in them, you can look for an IdealScope image with your stone, or purchase an IS tool for yourself for $30 online and take it into stores. This will help you determine which stones return the most light to your eye in sparkles, fire, scintillation.

If you are buying online, look for an IS image of the stone and lots of reds and blacks! Not alot of vendors do fancy IS images, but you can make it a requirement of the sale.
