Hello,
I''ve read here that EGL USA provides more cut info on their certs than GIA does. Do they provide sarin info? Is there enough info on their certs to get an accurate HCA score? Do they have cut categories like AGS 0, meaning is there some official EGL designation like "ideal cut" that they put on their certs?
Per my previous post about Natalie K''s "The Perfect Diamond" which is a branded hearts and arrows stone all of which are EGL certed, I didn''t understand why any nice brand of diamonds would use the EGL. Someone responded that it''s because they put hearts & arrows images on their certs, and have H&A as a special designation, so it actually makes a lot of sense. I talked to my local vendor of these diamonds, and they actually sell for less than similar GIA certed diamonds even though they''re branded and true H&A stones. The prices he quoted me were really, really competitive with pricescope super ideals, and way less than AGS 0 stones that are available to me locally. He said that''s because the supplier of these stones has a long standing relationship with the EGL, and they certify mass numbers of stones through them to get such good rates on the labwork itself. Plus, EGL stones just sell for less than GIA certed ones anyhow. But, he assured me that EGL los angeles is just as strict these days as GIA.
Anyhow, I''m going in to look at some of these tomorrow, but just wanted to know what kind of specific cut info I can expect to see on the certs beyond the H&A pics, and whether it''s enough to get HCA scores from.
Thanks! Fingers crossed! They had some that were very appealing to me in terms of basic specs.
