Hi All,

Plz let me know what type of antiques is this spoon.. may be made of some stones or so. Some collectors told me that it can be shell spoon. It fades color like pink, blue, green , milky etc.. and shines also. Its an old antique spoon I am sure.

I have no idea whether it's an antique or not but the spoon is carved from some kind of shell: mother of pearl, abalone, mussel, etc. Even an expert in shells (there are lots of possibile kinds) might have trouble identifying the exact type from an image. The image doesn't even have a coin or some other reference for size. Good luck.

Yes, those spoons are made from the Mother of Pearl (the surface layer) of large shells (or, at least, shells which are long enough).

Would these be small spoons for caviar? It's not my usual cup of tea but I think I've heard that nonmetallic spoons are used for that, and that mother of pearl is traditional.
