hi all, came across this ring (above) and was told it’s pink/rose quartz with white topaz on the shank. It’s not expensive, about 123usd. On hindsight, I begin to doubt if it is really pink quartz since the stone is quite sparkly/clear, not milky.

Can anyone verify if this is even natural?
Attached a more professional pic from the shop’s insta below. See the 3 pink rings in the middle. Thank you PSers!

Honestly they all look really synthetic but if the vendor says they are natural stones, most likely they are all dyed quartz. Colorless quartz is commonly dyed to imitate topaz, citrine, peridot, amethyst and so on.

So that ring is not real, naturally occurring pink quartz (which is usually a milky translucent pink color) but most likely a variant of “raspberry quartz”, which is dyed.

They are all likely to be CZ ie glass or possibly a type of man coloured quartz which isn’t any different to CZ. And they aren’t “real” white topaz, just the clear variety of the same man made stuff.
These style of rings (better and lesser quality) are made by the truckload in China - and often times although stamped “925” for sterling silver, they aren’t. You can find them on eBay and Alibaba (the Chinese marketplace) for literally a few dollars a ring.
So unless it IS one of the better quality ones in actual real sterling silver, $123 US is too much in my opinion.

Sigh I should have known better... it was too sparkly I couldn't resist. Kept the receipt, will see if I can get a refund! or at least an exchange for a natural gemstone....

It’s pretty. I had one similar in a round cut, wore it happily for years and got tons of compliments on it. I thought mine was real too. Life is funny.

Your ring is pretty, but if you are disappointed, you should try to return it. You won’t wear it if you are not happy with it.

Thanks guys. I exchanged for a rose quartz. Seller assured it’s natural/real and I’m pretty happy with the design.

Soft and glowy and gorgeous! So glad it worked out!
