Does anyone know what the New York Diamond Dealers Club is?

I''m thinking about buying a stone, and the seller said that the stone was at this club and that he''d have to get it. Does anyone have thoughts on diamonds that come from the Club?

Does the club regulate its membership in any way that would make dealing with a "member" beneficial?
