What is the pros/cons of engraving in WG and Platinum?

I hope this is the right forum for this...I would appreciat everyone''s input on this. I am in the midst of designing an upgraded ring and need to consider both metals due to cost. I really want to have engraving on my future ring. I appreciate your help...

I would think that it would be easier on platinum and last many years but would be harder to do last longer on gold. Hand engraving is beautiful. I considered it on my solitaire but decided I like high shine by it self.

The hardness of platinum should create more durable engraving.
