What is the first non-essential store that you plan to go to?

In some states, all stores are already open. If you live in such a state, have you gone shopping? If you are waiting for stores to open, which is first on your list?

HI:

Saks or Nordstroms. Yes, for a NEST candle.

cheers--Sharon

Hm, either Nordstrom Rack or Bath and Body Works. If I were in Canada or Boston, then LUSH, but they're not open in California, unfortunately.

Lowe's / Home Depot

I don't shop at department stores much, order online. I will get my hair cut when I am able. That's about it. Still going to exercise caution.

Already did it today. Interior design store to look at what they cooked up for a redo of my house. Unfortunately I didn't like any of the furniture or fabrics the designer chose so we're back to square one.

And in about an hour, I'm getting my haircut.

Home Depot. I’ve spent a lot of time recently watching DIY and would love to mindlessly roam up and down the aisles of a home improvement store. It will be some time, however, before I personally feel comfortable doing so.

Antique stores, even if nothing is new and it's the same stuff I've seen every other time I've been there. I just want to stroll along rocking my mask and listening to Sinatra.

Gary wanted McDonald's for breakfast
i said no way !!
stay home ! save lives !

Get a hair cut. My hair looks and feels a little like straw right now with tons of split ends.

@Queenie60 , I am so desperate I looked up youtube videos on how to cut my hair on my own!

Just my jeweler for now, playing with all my baubles during lockdown made me realize I have serious prongs to tighten.

I was at a thrift store, and an antique store today!
I'm so happy that they are open again!

Not a store per se...but my nail salon for a much needed mani and pedi.

They are germaphobes where I go anyway. Weeks before the shutdown, they were appointment only, wiping down stations/chairs with lysol wipes between clients, making everyone wash their hands before and after, wearing masks, etc. They even made the decision to shut down on their own a week before the state mandatetd it. I felt way safer there than I do going to the grocery store.

@stracci2000, Girlfriend you don't waste any time! Did you find any treasures??

Costco. I love checking out the diamonds and also going down every aisle to see what they have. If I could shop at only one store for the rest of my life, Costco would be it. I have pretty much been ordering everything else online for the last few years.

Sephora!

hair salon and nail salon will be the first places I go.

;)2 ive just been reading about what Bruce Springsteen wants to do
i don't think its the same as @missy. 's ice cream shop but im keen to one day try them all;)2

"Never has the mundane seemed so longingly attractive.....

When this is over — and I do have faith that it's gonna be over — I want to do the simple things again. That's what I've been missing. I want to get an ice cream cone at the Jersey Freeze! To be able to walk inside, step up to the counter, and say, "Soft vanilla dipped in chocolate, please." I want to get a pizza with my pal, the ex-mayor of Freehold, and all my old friends down at Federici's.

I want to take in the boardwalk on a quiet weekday night in Point Pleasant. Lose some of my money at all those wheels of chance. Hang at the beach until about five-thirty or six, when the evening cool just begins to drift in and that sun is low and warm on your skin. That is my favorite time of day. Then I may head in to Red Bank and stop at Jack's record store — stay strong, Jack! We're lucky to have a record store in Red Bank! That's for sure. Then maybe find a place to sit outside and have a drink, just surrounded by folks without a worry, just going about their business."

Haircut and gloss please! Grew my hair from a pixie to almost midway down my back, took 3 years with regular trims. Now I'm getting a Lob (I think).
New Balance, need some new sneaks!
The Bay, bras and underwear stat!

Not really a store, but would love to work out at the gym once it opens. I love group classes, and theses probably won’t happen for a while.

Home improvement and garden centre, and that's where I went when they started trading again recently.

DK :))

I won't be going. Not safe yet where I am. The overwhelming majority refuse to wear a mask or keep their distance, and the few who do get harassed. At the same time that new cases and hospitalizations are rising sharply in my county - not surprisingly.

I think you are wise. I went out just a little bit this past week and felt uncomfortable. I needed a lawnmower desperately and stayed in the store the five minutes it took to pick up and pay. I then felt so brave that I went to a big grocery store two days later, but that felt kind of dicey. So now I’m back to staying at home for a while to see what happens next out there.

i need a teeny pot of paint in a nice bright morning shade of yellow to finish painting our toilet door
but im not risking it
it annoyes me every time i sit down its unfinished - its one of those yellow colours the paint formula book tells you it needs 3 coats of colour to cover and im only the last coat of half the door short

Probably the ice cream shoppe we love to go to. They are actually open but we aren't ready to go because people here are not wearing masks nor practicing social distancing in many places. At Costco they are because they enforce it but at other places not so much.

Plus how can one eat ice cream (on the porch at the shoppe which is the best place to enjoy it) with a mask on and it will be crowded as this is a holiday weekend. So probably waiting til we feel it is less risky.

It is super tempting though...they make the best ice cream. :lickout:

I must admit for being a tad uneasy about getting out and about, in that some people, especially those under the age of 25 or so, appear not to care too much about social distancing.

Whenever I saw a group of people out and about in open spaces without social distancing since the lockdown restrictions have been relaxed, were young people, and I do not believe they were from the same household!

I was queuing in a grocery store respecting social distancing to the person in front, for 3 youths behind me getting too close to me for comfort without a care in the world, so I moved sideways to increase my distance from them.
