I am looking at a radiant that is VS2-H color 1.15 cts and the GIA report says that there are extra facets. The symetry is rated as good and the polish is very good. Even with the loupe it was hard for me to see the extra facets but they are on the pavllion and the corner of the crown. Will this effect its brilliance or fire? Visually it looked great so I am not sure what to make of it. Can really good stones still have extra facets?

Minor facets - minor effect

I have yet to hear of strong opposition making these a significant quality factor. When the overal apearance does not get hit, neither do price and value - so it really is your choice. These extra facets would have hit the clarity grade - given the VS2, those cannot have a major impact on the stone's appearence.

To put things into perspective: it is enough to ge a half of degree variation in a round diamond's average facet index to get the stone dethroned from perfection (no more H&A and such). Foreget extra facets there!

Your stone is a radiant. Different story ! Here 'really good' means brilliance, symmetry, and proportions. Once these three are in place, what can an extra facet do? There is little accord about how the rest of them should be cut anyway (as you know, the generic radiants come with quite a few types of faceting anyway).
