I''m sure this has been discussed already, but I couldn''t find anything about it. Does price jump more between different clarities or different colors? For example, would there be more of a price difference between an F VS2 and an F SI1 or between an F VS2 and an G VS2? Thanks in advance.

It depends on which two grades you are talking about. The jumps are smaller between lower grades but can by quite large in the highest grades (color OR clarity).

Attached is a Rap sheet lifted from www.goodoldgold.com . It is very out-of-date but it gives you an idea of the relative prices between grades.

For your example, the color difference is slightly greater than the clarity difference. But not by much.

Thanks for the quick reply. That chart is great! The good old gold website has everything I could ever want to know. Thanks again.

The answer is that in your example the clarity grade is a bigger difference than the color grade.

For a current analysis, just use the PS database viewed through Price Stats

Select your shape and cut/carat then see how the numbers jump
