Hello all
Appreciate your knowledge here. Which would be the preferred grader on a 1.03 princess cut. I need to get a certificate and don''t know which would be the better facility - GIA or AGS.
Thanks,
Dino

AGS, as they grade cut of princess, but if you are not sure of the cut performance of your stone, sending it there might 'devalue' your stone.

If you just want to know the other 3C, GIA will do.

What is the purpose of getting the report?

Just wanting to get a second opinion before deciding to purchase. I beleive that the current grading report comes from the wholesaler or CANADAMARK. (not sure). They are canadian diamonds.
Thanks
Dino

Are you in Canada or the US? You didn''t make that clear in your previous posts.

Sorry - yes I am in Canada. I live in a small northern town with one jeweller, and I don''t think they handle alot of diamonds. The wholesaler that they use is in a larger center in Canada. Just not sure if the wholesaler should be sending the diamonds out for GIA / AGS certs, or would my retailer do that? And again, which certifing body is better for princess stones.
Thank you,
Dino

Both GIA and AGS are thought to be reliable for colour and clarity grading, AGS is the only lab to grade Princess for cut quality at this time, so if you chose to send the diamond to GIA it wouldn't get a cut grade, just the basic measurements, colour and clarity. Either the wholesaler or retailer could send a diamond for grading.

Thanks Lorelei. It is nice to get such quick feedback!
I will request an AGS certification.
Take care,
Dino
