I traveled the world over, via the internet, to find gifts this Christmas. Spent too much money, got all kinds of exotic stuff. And what's a big hit? This cheesy little thing I got from the Barnes and Noble (also on Amazon):

http://www.amazon.com/Nogglers-NG-061-Inch-Mini-Tic/dp/B001KVW0TW

A little wooden 3D Tic-Tac-Toe game for $10. It is a lot of fun though, because you can win diagonally, straight up, across, diagonal over all three levels, etc. It takes about 2 minutes to play a game and then you want to go again. So, lots of fun and easy for even younger kids to play.

What did you give that was a hit?

Extra points for cheap gifts! :appl:

Hubby and I don't exchange gifts, so the big hits were the ones we got the kids. We gave them both guitar's and we've been having concerts multiple times a day! I'm thrilled that they love them, but I'm wondering if they're too young for music lessons?? ;))

I gave my SO a lei made out of nuts (it won't go bad- it will last for years) when he got off the plane. He loved it. He wore it on his return trip. I bought it at the grocery store for $12.

What kind of nuts Danny?

We did this Santa gift auction thing and the "big-family-dinner" with like 45 of us all in a tiny room. Anyway, everyone got to draw numbers and then you could steal presents from lower numbers.

I bought slipper-like zebra print, fuzzy, vibrating foot massager. I think it exchanged hands something like 21 times and ended with my 6'8" Naval Seal Uncle. I didn't have the heart to tell everyone I bought it at Wal*Mart for $12.

OMG! What a picture!

That sounds like lots of fun.

Not an inexpensive gift, but compared to what he got me it is 'budget friendly' in comparison. My husband and I have a wedding to attend in NJ in May, so I got him and his best friend killer seats to a Mets game that week. He was THRILLED, I can't wait till they go, they will have SO much fun!

I gave two of my boys and one boys girlfriend as set of flex lights I bought at costco for $12. One is a spot and one is a wide
beam. Mostly used for reading. I bought a set for me as well. You wear them around your neck so you don't have to mess with a
book light getting in the way.

Same girlfriend loved her locket (that was supposed to be mine) as well.

My sweetie loves playing video games of allllllll types and he's been playing (actually more like addicted) Red Dead Redemption on PS3. There is a dice game called "Liar's Dice" and he loves playing it on there. While browsing through Barnes and Noble...what to my wondering eyes should appear??? The actual "Liar's Dice" Game! :rodent: I was sooooo excited! :naughty: He had NO idea it was coming and I knew he was going to absolutely love it.

Well, not only did he love it but we seriously stayed up until almost 3am on Christmas Eve and Christmas playing. Everyone had an absolute blast-even his parents and all of our guests! The BEST $20 I've ever spent... :-) It only comes with 4 sets so we were borrowing other dice from Monopoly and Yahtzee so everyone could join in..lol

Anyone who enjoys dice games should definitely check it out! It's hours of fun!

This year we killed it for our Dads...

My father is a huge golfer, so I bought him the Loupole G4 Range Finder...he was so excited and happy.

My FIL is a collector of sports memorabilia, so we found him a framed photo of the last at bat in Yankee stadium with a container of dirt from the mound...he was thrilled.

I had a photo blanket made for my mother with the pics of all 5 of her grandchildren. She's pretty stone faced when receiving gifts..but when she saw this blanket (it's HUGE with about 30 pics) she lit up like a christmas tree. She asked..do I place it on my bed or hang it on my wall :naughty:

She was very excited! I was excited to have it made for her. I knew it was up her alley

This is exactly what our (large) family does, too - we call it "Stealing Santa". It is hilarious!

This year, a popular gift was a battery operated bug zapper in the shape of a tennis racquet. Extra hilarity when my brother was touching the "strings" area while saying, "I don't think you can zap yoursel-zzzzzzt!!"

HI:

Two big hits from a different set of folks, but for the same guy: I gifted my DH with a pink stiped Paul Smith shirt and a Belstaff coat. Family loved the shirt while colleagues loved the coat--OH and the DH loved them both also :cheeky: .....

cheers--Sharon

my dad LOVES anything with melted cheese so i bought him a panini press-- he was thrilled!

my five year old just loves her mini nail polish set which was only $3.... awwww the little things in life makes the happiest gift sometimes.

ooh, I love red dead redemption! The best gift I gave was to Missy, my brother in laws dog. I bought her tennis balls connected to this really durable rope. By the end of the day the only thing holding the tennis balls together was the fabric outside. The insides were tennis ball mush :nono: She's a German Shepherd.

I think most of my gifts were a hit this year. My mom loved her poker set, my sister loved the vanity set I gave her (she says it reminds her of Beauty and the Beast), my grandmother liked her books, my aunt immediately put her stuff in her new wallet, her husband is reading his boating magazine, my grandpa has been listening to the Bellamy Brothers all weekend/ week, and SO loved his gifts. I think my Granny REALLY loved the cross I gave her, which made me feel good because that was a very heartfelt gift from me. I can't wait for SO's sister to see her present.

My parents always love their gifts from me, this year I gave my mother a gorgeous tweed bucket hat, mitten/gloves, and WigWam socks that match her new winter coat (she was thrilled and loves them all), and I got my father some YakTrax thingies that fit over his shoes that are good for walking on icy and snowy sidewalks in between his business and the bank/post office. He's 70 this year (!good for him!) and I worry that he'll fall because he loves to walk no matter what the weather conditions. He actually said he'd thought about getting a pair so I was really happy, because that means he will wear them and I won't worry as much. :appl:

But they're gonna watch them lose.....

Just kidding.

Phillies fan right here ;)

What I do want to say is that the Mets stadium is ABSOLUTELY awesome!!!! Tell them to go hungry because they have a TON of different food vendors there...its amazing.

Kukui. Alternating dark brown and a kind of beige color. They also had one that was all black which I didn't think he'd like (and he said he wouldn't have).

Thanks for asking.

My biggest hit was a set of two humble little needle-felting kits I got my niece (owl ball and snow bunny: http://www.etsy.com/shop/fancytiger?ref=seller_info). She had her critters done within a few hours, then she and her younger brother started crafting things from the extra roving from my "stash" that I had tucked into the box. Definitely a big hit!

However, my SIL and my oldest nephew crafted this year's mega-hits. SIL asked everyone to bring their instruments and found sheet music with appropriate instrumentation, and on Christmas night a string trio played "Away in a Manger," "Angels We Have Heard on High," and "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring." I provided vocals on the first two and did my best to coach/conduct the last number (the instrumentalists --two on cello and one on viola -- have about four years' experience between them). When my oldest nephew arrived the next day, he composed a guitar and cello duet that he practiced and performed with my SIL. I don't think anything could have given my mother as much pleasure as these performances!

I bought my husband a Keurig coffee maker because he wanted one so badly, that he HAD to have one. His fishing partner bought one a year ago for them to use when they're fishing away tournaments. He always liked the coffee it made. Now he has his own at home and he can't get the coffee to taste the same and it's frustrating me!

Danny - I LOVE kukui nut leis! I still have the one I bought many years ago during my first trip to Hawaii. Paid a lot more than $12 for it though... next time I may have to look in the grocery store!

Could it be the water?

I gave my sister, my dad, and my niece a snug sack (not the one advertised on tv) that I got at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. You can use it just as a blanket or zipper it up and wear it around the house. My neice's mother loves it so much she wants one now. It was fun watching my sister and dad walking around the house yesterday in theirs for the few hours I was there.

Oddly, C LOVED his flip folder and mini Miami Dolphin football......he played with it on Sunday, lol...

Okay, my DH has returned just about everything I gave him (including both chess sets!) but he's keeping these:

You stick your iPhone into this and the little levers on the sides work, the little ball launcher works, it lights up and everything. It is really pretty cool, it turns your iPhone into a mini pinball machine.

This is a little video camera in a pen. The movies it takes are pretty good, considering how small the lens is. The sound quality is pretty poor, but what do want? It's a pen!

No extra points for cheap, but under $50 each, anyway.

Exactly my thought, too . . .
